I would like to try a few things from Waitrose as I had some tasty bacon at a friends recently which was from Waitrose. Can anyone recommend some good value items they buy. Also are there things that are too expensive and to avoid. I have a leaflet for Waitrose saying its free delivery on £50 or over. Is this different to Ocado? Thanks.

Ocado is a separate company to Waitrose.
Sometimes the ingredients for the Delia/heston recipes are on special offer http://www.waitrose.com/home/delia_heston.html
Have a look at the meat offers http://www.waitrose.com
They price match tesco on branded items if you have any 'must haves' amongst brands.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
Their 'essential' range is their basic stuff and is very good compared to other supermarket basics - bit more expensive sometimes but good value.0

they have all their bacon (i agree - it's really good) on offer now:
instead of £2.99 a pack, any 2 for £4.500 -
Their meat is always good value and its good quality too0

Their essentials own brand is really good stuff. One example I can think of is their essentials coleslaw which is as good as the "luxury" coleslaw of other supermarkets. Same goes for things like hummus and salsa.
Their fruit is always consistently good and lasts longer than from other supermarkets I've found, which means less wastage.
It's worth going at about 5.30 in the evening for the reductions, which is when I get things like their luxury meals/fish etc for a good price.2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0 -
the essential range 'cheerios'are amazing, and they do lovely tinned potatoes too:j:j:j0

It's not the cheapest, but the essentials brand coconut milk is by far the best I've tried - it's lovely and thick and really coconutty, and I think it's better value than cheaper brands which tend to split when you cook with them.0

Oh and a very important one if you are a coffee drinker - Waitrose rich roast coffee granules is one of the best instant coffees I have ever tasted. Really good and only 99p. Much cheaper than Nescafe Gold Blend etc and much better quality. I've got so used to my waitrose own brand coffee I nearly spat out a cup of Nescafe my husband made the other day. It was rank!2015 wins: Jan: Leeds Castle tickets; Feb: Kindle Fire, Years supply Ricola March: £50 Sports Direct voucher April: DSLR camera June: £500 Bingo July: £50 co-op voucher0
