If it helps - these were our readings for the church

My aunt – Reading: The One

When the one whose hand you're holding
Is the one who holds your heart
When the one whose eyes you gaze into
Gives your hopes and dreams their start,
When the one you think of first and last
Is the one who holds you tight,
And the things you plan together
Make the whole world seem just right,
When the one whom you believe in
puts their faith and trust in you,
You've found the one and only love
You'll share your whole life through.

My 12 year old son wrote and read this speech in the church (there wasn't a dry eye!)

    Reading – by Matthew

Ever since I caught mum and Bob kissing in the kitchen when I was 7, i knew my life would be different, but in a good way.
We have had a lot of good times, and family fun - going to the cinema; going to theme parks; but we will always remember Bob's first holiday with us. We went to Fuerteventura, and Bob was really giddy and over-excited. He couldn't sleep and he kept us all awake with his excitement! Sometimes he is silly. Sometimes he is strict. But I know he always loves me – and that he is there for me if I need him, or I'm upset or angry about something.
Anyway - I'm really pleased that bob proposed to mum when we were on our last holiday in Lapland - and I’m glad that we're a proper family now.

And one last bit of advice for bob…..
    To keep your marriage brimming
With love in the loving cup
    Whenever you’re wrong, admit it
    Whenever you’re right, shut up.

and this was my speech after the meal... :)

Nickki – Reading: "Yes, I'll marry you" by Pam Ayres

Yes, I'll marry you, my dear,
    And here's the reason why;
So I can push you out of bed
When the baby starts to cry,

And if we hear a knocking
And it's creepy and it's late,
I hand you the torch you see,
    And you investigate.

Yes, I'll marry you, my dear,
    You may not apprehend it,
    But when the tumble-drier goes
It's you that has to mend it,
You have to face the neighbour
    Should our Labrador attack him,
And if a drunkard fondles me
It's you that has to whack him.

    Yes, I'll marry you,
    You're virile and you're lean,
My house is like a pigsty
You can help to keep it clean.
    That sexy little dinner
    Which you served by candlelight,
    As I do chipolatas,
You can cook it every night!

It's you who has to work the drill
    and put up curtain track,
    And when I've got PMT

it's you who gets the flak,
    I do see great advantages,
But none of them for you,
And so before you see the light,
    I do, I do, I do!

and you have NO idea how true most of the above is! lol
    Everybody was laughing so much...

Thanks for that Nikki - your sons reading is lovely. I like the Pam Ayres poem a lot too. It really makes me laugh.

    Today I saw this - http://greenweddingshoes.com/winter-modern-art-deco-wedding-ideas/

And I liked some of the ideas. Off to scour ebay for some approriate coloured glasses to use for tealights now. I may find some vases too.

    The Beauty of Love
The question is asked: “Is there anything more beautiful in life than a young couple clasping hands and pure hearts in the path of marriage? Can there be anything more beautiful than young love?” And the answer is given: “Yes, there is a more beautiful thing.
"It is the spectacle of an old man and an old woman finishing their journey together on that path. Their hands are gnarled but still clasped; their faces are seamed but still radiant; their hearts are physically bowed and tired but still strong with love and devotion. Yes, there is a more beautiful thing than young love. Old love.”

    I also found this. Megan

Well, I would say keep it in mind for your day then! We are also having 'The Promise', have you read it? WE have quoted parts of it on our place cards and menus. The menus have to elderly peoples shadows dancing on the back too, so I think this quote ^^ will be perfect for during the meal.

Good to see you have started your poll! I voted for #2 - I think it will look really stunning. But that is just me...
