Gonig to POP!

Hi all,

We are planning our wedding and I think I'm going to burst with excitement! We started off having something a little low key and now it is just evolving into the most amazing day.

We have both been married before and as such we seem to be given a free reign when it comes to making decisions. It is bliss, I chose my dress http://www.essensedesigns.com/dress-D1114 all on my own and didn't have to justify it to anyone. I'm a curvy girl and it really accentuates them. The only person who will see it will be my friend who can't make the wedding. I've chosen the bridesmaids dresses - the oldest chose her own and I gave her a free choice too. It was a lovley day shopping with her and her mum.

My other half tried on a fantastic dinner suit in M and S yesterday and looked so handsome I almost cried in the shop!!! I've ordered our sons outfits, just need some jackets for the older 2 now.

I have even picked the table decs, menus, invites etc. All with a fantastic glamourous 'Old Hollywood' feel.

Anyway, as we are trying to keep it all secret and organise it all so everyone can rock up on the day and just relax, I thought I would share some of our ideas on here. I will be keeping my thread updated as now I have written all that I feel a little calmer...

Oooh, and I have to wait until March to reveal all our plans. That is if I haven't burst by then!

  • Eeee! I'm excited for you! :D

It's so lovely to just be able to make your own decisions; I'm extremely lucky in that family have not placed any demands on us at all, even though they're contributing financially.

I love the idea of not telling anyone your plans, but it must be a nightmare keeping everything a secret! I don't think I could manage it; it's hard enough not telling H2B about my dress!

I know - obviously our guests know where it is held and we have told them that if they want to 'release their inner Fred or Ginger' they can dress appropriately. Lots of them seem up for that idea! At my first wedding everyone helped out. Then when my siblings have married it has been a hands on affair, which is nice, but gets very stressful. Especially for my parents who just want to come and have a lovely time. So, for them, and for our sanity we have decided to keep it all secret.

    Well, that's the plan!

Oooh, I have just ordered a Dinner jacket and trousers from TEsco!! They are offer - until Wednesday if anyone is interested? I don't know what the quality is like, but if we don't like it there are free returns offered I think. Fingers crossed it looks as good as the M and S one - it is exactly the same style so should do.

So, the Tesco suit wasn't a great success.... But with free returns it was worth a go. We will be ordering the M and S one soon. I have also spotted these http://www.hm.com/gb/product/91840?article=91840-B and thehttp://www.hm.com/gb/product/94826?article=94826-Ase for my boys to wear. The older 2 have some light linen pants and blue/white striped shirts. They will look like mini rogues in these I think!

For the little flowergirls I think these shiny pinkk shoes will go down a storm too - http://www.hm.com/gb/product/95503?article=95503-B. If I were a little girl I would wear them until the shine wore off. And at these prices who can argue? Tres MSE I think.

Got to run menu choices and timings past the lady at the hotel then I can order invites etc. It is all so exciting.

Sorry if this is more of a blog, but I need to keep a track of my thoughts and I would gladly welcome any input from fellow brides!

    Todays update -

I had completely forgotten how brilliant MSE is. So we have ordered goldsmith vouchers via Tesco and £270 worth has arrived this morning. Now we need to find a shop and OH can find one. So thank you for bringing this to my attention!

We have also put in a bid on a gorgeous ring for me on Ebay - I have decided I am happier to have a 2nd hand one if necessary as I want a big bit of bling! I don't have an engagement ring, so figured I was due a rock or 3.

Next Tuesday we are going to the registrar to make our declarations of marriage and after we are going to try our meal. I am very excited about this! I'm thinking I will take the table decs I have so far to see how they look! I suspect the wedding co-ordinator thinks I am slightly strange.

I will be taking pictures and posting them on here for comments! Hopefully I will have my invites, menus and place cards too. I have ordered them from Vistaprint - thank you again fellow MSE brides for this suggestion.

We have decided to write our own vows after reading some very sweet ones on here. We have found a poem on here too, so we just need another reading of some sort I think. I have discovered my 'walking down the aisle song' and our first dance song, our 'walking down the aisle as a couple' song too.

I am getting more and more excited!

    Thanks Fawny.

I know there is probably a more suitable place for this, but I have no idea where! I want to share, but the desire to surprise all our guests is bigger. Luckily, my friend KAty, who can't attend the wedding is a regular visitor. I showed her the invites etc the other day and she gave me a pointer but LOVED them, which is good.

My OH is also insistent on bidding for my ring, which is his contribution. Small but romantic. He does listen and discuss plans, but as he is working hard at the mo and I'm at home I'm the one organising things.

I hope your plans are going well Fawny.

So, things are coming along well in the whole planning department.

Yesterday I went to the Town Hall and discussed a few things about the logistics etc. I now know how many rows of seats we are having, in case I want to spruce up the rather boring chairs. I also looked at their floral decorations and they are fine, so no need to order anymore. I requested the gorgeous Gillows chairs for us and the registrars, so they should look spectacular. The caretaker was ever so helpful, and indeed hopeful that we might be taking a rock band. He will be bitterly disappointed when he realises that if we do have one there it will be a 3 piece European Jazz band!!

Whilst in town I also paid a little more off my dress and was given a 10% off a florist voucher. Hoping to meet with her and discuss a bouquet for me as I have managed to cobble some together for my Bridesmaids. I made one for the older girl out of some flowers I had been given for doing a friends wedding cake and then last night I managed to make 2 small ones. They are lovely and later today the two little ones will get to try them with their dresses as I will see for the first time what they will look like. I suspect I will have to alter DD's dress to a white one as it no longer matches anything.... I also suspect she really wont mind!

I have heard from VistaPrint that my invites, menus and placecards are on their way. SO excited. Fingers firmly crossed that there are no spelling mistakes or errors! I have also ordered some mini yellow and ivory pails for the kids table. I will fill them with gold coins and golden sweets to represent treasure and have flags sticking out for their names. The kids tables will be the complete antithesis of the adults tables. Kids = seaside kitsch, adults = hollywood glamour!

Bidding continues on Ebay for a ring - lost the last one, so got my eye on several more!

Can't wait to see the little ones in their outfits later - pictures WILL be taken and uploaded...
