A lovely weekend shopping in Harrogate. Part wedding, part Christmas! So, The OH's suit has been changed and looks gorgeous. We took the Tesco voucers and got him a ring at Goldsmiths. As he wont be wearing it every day due to his job he has chosen a beautiful yellow gold one, with 2 lines cut in to give it a bit of a glint. It will look amazing on the day and I know he will really enjoy wearing it. The best part was due to the vouchers it only cost £50..result!
My ring arrived too and I am blown away. It is simply stunning and I can hardly wait to get it on. I keep trying it on. It is aa touch tight, but I am hoping that by the time I have lost a little more weight I will be able to have it resized smaller! Well, I can hope.
If you are looking for battery operated lights we found some in Primarni - £2.50 for 40, so I snapped up 6 of them. Perfect for Christmas, even better for the wedding!
I finally decided to order Farrah the dress from Monsoon which she tried on this morning. She looks lke an angel. I think I will be taking more photos tonight!
Still waiting for people to reply to their invites - I know they have them - but I would quite like some 'official' responses! We worked out the table plan lasst night - early, I know, but I had a plan in mind. Instead of the traditional 'head table' we willbe sitting with friends! There wont be a best man - we think we will ask someone to read a poem or extract instead, so if anyone has any ideas they would be welcome. We have worked out the tables according to who we think will get along the best.....
And there is NO way I will be telling them who they are sitting with before the event!
Hope all your plans are going well,
MEgan

We were the same - people assumed we knew they were coming, but we had asked questions on the RSVP that needed answers lol
So, i did drop jokey hints that if people didn't respond, we were assuming that they weren't coming.
That got nearly all the rsvp's back - but there will always be a few that don't want to be formal.
We also mixed our tables up. i worked on the plan for months, tweaking it as we went along. I didn't want people forming cliques so we had one couple from my family, one couple from his family, one couple friends and another couple to fit in with the others.
We had 2 tables with families - so that the children were all together and parents were not feeling too uncomfrtable if their children played up because everybody else on their table was in the same boat!
It worked really well, and lasting friendships were forged between the 2 families and friends.
It was a lot of hard work - but totally worth it for the end result!
Good luck with yours

thanks Nickki. I have put all the kids on two tables - they are aged 14 - 2 but are all related and I am sure they will look after each other. Plus they are in the same room as us all! I have put the parents and aunts and uncles together - 7 in total and then mixed and matched the siblings/cousins as they are all similar ages. I have one table of old school friends with the rest mixed in with the families. I am sure it will all be fine.
I know everyone is coming but I need their replies for the food - especially as they will be on their place cards....
Glad you had a fantastic day nickki.

Wow!!! You have been busy!
Thanks for the fairy lights tip, they are now on my shopping list!
Try to resist trying on your ring too often :rotfl:I had to give mine to my mum to stop me trying it on 3 times a day!
I've yet to start on a table plan, that should be fun lol!!!!!!7 Feb 2012: 10st7lbs14 Feb: 10st4.5lbs

I will try to resist - otherwise I might just accidentally get it stuck!
The lights are great, we have some up for Christmas so they are dual purpose!
Table plan was easy for us, but I know we are lucky no one has any influence over us.

so, I was reading a book last night and I found the following quotes which I would quite like to use in lieu of a speech...
From 'Major Pettigrew's Last Stand' Helen Simomson (A brilliant book, by the way)
"But I must ask you, do you really understand what it means to be in love with an unsuitable woman?"
"My dear boy", said the Major, "Is there really any other kind?"
And I like the following....
"That is what love is about, Roger. It's when a woman drives all lucid thought from your head; when you are unable to contrive romantic stratagems, and the usual manipulations fail you; when all your carefully laid plans have no meaning and all you can do is stand mute in her presence. You hope she takes pity on you and drops a few words of kindness into the vacuum of your mind."
What do you think? I also saw a nice quote about young couples holding hands but the most beautiful thing was an old couple still holding hands which I really liked. I need to find it again and copy it onto here!
