single parents that do not work also get free meals, free healthcare and usually have full rent rebate and council tax rebate.................this is not aimed at single parents who also work and struggle, thing is single parents also or should get csa payments from absent parents, a top up as not added in with benefits already recieving, so therefore are better off.

Married couples that do not work get all that too, just under a different name.

Not all single parents get anything from absent parents, never mind a top up.

I did read it, and what I read was still stigmatising single parents, whilst not mentioning couples who choose not to work. Whether you meant it that way or not, that's how it reads.

  • So are we all agreed that single parents don't all have the easy ride that the media portray them to (and that any discussion of the subject is completely irrelevant to the OP's situation!)? ;)

I think anybody that choses not to work be they single or couples should be penalised not subsidised, they should not live a lifestyle equivalent of someone working minimum wage, that may lead more of an incentive to work.
