Yeah, so should CB, never seen why the government pay people for having children, but I've also never understood why they pay people to sit around and not work when they have never done a days work in their lives, losing your job is one thing, but never even having had one and chosing not to cause it wont pay as much as they get already??

Exactly, this country is grossly over populated and there are seven billion people in the world, but this country encourages and rewards the !!!!less breeders. Complete madness.

I think you will be surprised at where you can save money. How much do you spend on groceries each week? There are people on MSE that manage to do it on £10.

After we have paid all our outgoings we are left with 92.43 to feed clothe and clean a family of 4 and our house, we shop in the cheap supermarkets, the market, butchers and farm ships for veg and meat, iceland for frozen stuff. I go to Mr Ts and Co-Op every day to get what I can from the ooops counters and freeze it for later, I meal plan, I cook everything from scratch, we reuse everything we can, I even wheel a trolley to Mr Ts every week with my recycling so it goes in there than the council collect it!

Wow you really are rude. And you have no idea about my intellectual capabilities or my educational background. How embarrassing for you to get personal about somebody with no basis for your nastiness.

You are clearly uneducated in this instance because your suggestion that the £10 eating plan was based around 'noodles for dinner' was entirely wrong. Or did you not write that just a few minutes ago?

But do you know how much you actually spend? It's all well and good saying 'we buy the cheapest', but that could be £10 or £100 depending on what you buy. It sounds like you need to be more specific in your budgeting, really break things down.

So it was completely irrelevant, yes?

No quite relevant, it was empathising with the OP. I am probably closest to the OPs circs in that I'm married with two kids, OH earns £17.5K I told her how we manage as a family. I work evenings and weekends in a supermarket. We also have a rental property.

I actually agree with Midnight Express that tax credits should be abolished.
    OPs so far £42,139

I generally spend most of the £90!! I buy meat and veg and fruit, I dont necessarily buy the cheapest of everything, but I buy what is economically the best for us. I write a shopping list before we go out, I dont just walk round randomly chucking things in the trolley and we buy the same things from each shop each week and if its on offer somewhere else I've been known to take it back to the more expensive one!
I appreciate the suggestion honestly but I dont see how breaking it down is going to make it go any further than it already does

£90 a week or a month? If weekly, you are not being economical at all. You could save the £200 a month you need easily. Look at the Moneysaving Old Style board and see how people cope on far less.

You will receive help with childcare costs if you work.

The time to have thought about this was before you had children. No point in moaning about it now.

You really don't belong on this forum.
Can we just take it as read I didn't mean to offend you?

No, £90 a month!! £90 a week we'd be living like kings compared to what we do now!

I did wonder! You could still knock some off it though - have a look at the Old Style board and post your outgoings on the Debtfree Wannabee board.
