When was the last time you came out from an IKEA without more than you intended? From 200 tealights to a new bed, you always spend more than intended, no matter how a money saver you are!
IKEA are great on so many levels, but I think they are an evil enemy to those paying off debts and trying to minimise expenditure. If one goes in there for a free coffee you come out with a cupboard.

The scheme's been piloted in three stores (Ashton-under-lyne, Leeds and Warrington) for several weeks, and from 14 Feb will be available nationwide.
As Martin's post said, this card is available nationwide from 14 February. I have an Ikea account card and they just sent me one of these new cards in the post last week.

The assistants were signing folks up all over the Bristol store yesterday must be some £££'s for who gets the most. Nice cup of coffee0 -

I also had a £2.50 off voucher if I spend £5 on family products.
I'm off the weekend after me birthday to Milton Keynes !
They sent me one last week too because I have a store card. Didn't realise there was a £2.50 voucher at the bottom of the letter because it was folded back. Just dug it out now i've read this and found it. Only trouble is that when I do go to Ikea I end up spending loads on stuff that I didn't go for!!!

We went to IKEA Edmonton today and IKEA Family was definitely up and running. The main benefits seem to be 25% off all IKEA Family products - we bought some safety latches for our kitchen cupboards and the discount comes off automaitcally at the till as long as you hand your card over to be swiped. They also have random products discounted around the store with a cheaper price if you are using the "Family" card.
Went to the cafe and only wanted one free cup of coffee but I asked the lady if we could both have one and she said that the card entitles you to up to 4!
Also found out generally that you get a free jar of baby food per adult meal purchased (so picked up 2). And also every time you buy a child's meal you get a free piece of fruit - so back on the shelf went the expensive yoghurt and DS1 had banana for dessert instead.0 -
Hi, sorry if this is a silly question, but can I get a loyalty card if I'm a single person? All this talk of discounts in the "family" section makes me wonder if you have to have a "family" - i.e. if it asks for details of your children on the application form?0

Family card is for everyone, you don't necessarily have to have a family. The benefits are great and the more you times you visit the store the more offers that you receive (that's if you give your details), up to 25% off selected items and free tea and coffee- Mon- Fri.
Sorry to go on, I work for IKEA Warrington and we've had some teething problems with the card but make sure that everytime you go into an IKEA store make sure that you get your card swiped at the tills whether your buying "Family" items or not. "Family" items include luggage, toiletries, diy and interior design books plus the selected items around the store. You can have a look for yourselves.
Happy shopping!!:hello:0 -
I'm reluctant to make this thread live again (if anyone's still linked to it) but I seem to remember that the application form for the IKEA Home Card talked about free tea and coffee every day of the week for as long as you held the card.
They've changed that now, of course, and this store card doesn't provide free coffee any more. The Family Card is valid only Monday - Friday.
If anyone's still following, does anyone recall the original T&C about the free tea and coffee? Was it expressed as being for as long as you held the card?0 -
Ikea Family Card gives free tea and coffee Mon - Fri, but is valid as a card for offers etc all the time.
