Curiousness: How many different banks do you have an account with?

Are you getting the £5 per month on all three of your Halifax Reward accounts?Once upon time things were different and it was easier to open multiple accounts, but it's not so now. Always best to take advantage of these type of offers when they first appear as they do tend to change after time. Lloyds Vantage were the same, at one time you could get away with unlimited, now it's 3. Many have been successful in opening more the the stipulated 2 Santander Preferred accounts.0 -
Some people get £20/month from their Halifax reward accounts, so I'd say yes.0
-
First Direct - Current, offset mortgage, 8% reg saver and the service
Halifax - for the fiver
Co-op - for the £200
Cahoot - never got round to closing but used it to switch over to co-op after moving a couple of DD's to it0 -

As long as you cycle the £1000 through the accounts you get your £5.
We have a joint one which is our main account, then I have 3 solos and OH has 2 solos. So we get a total of £30 per month. Then, as I am not a taxpayer, I can reclaim tax on my £17.50 per month, so another £4.37 per month to add.0 -

My wife is not a tax payer as she doesn't work, we have 5 account 2 sole each and 1 joint. How much would she be able to claim back?0 -
Visit the HMRC website and look up 'R40'.atlantis187 wrote: »How do u reclaim the tax back?

You'd be claiming £1.25 per month (£5 grossed up to £6.25) per account on her sole accounts, and possibly 62p per month on the joint?0 -
Yes, it is easy to do, the R40 is a fairly simple form. She will need to enter all her savings income, just follow the instructions.
On 2 sole and 1 joint she could reclaim £3.12 per month, so £37.44 for the 12 months.
You reclaim after the end of the tax year, the refund usually comes through within 2-3 weeks.0 -
