I only have 4 accounts with two banks.
I have three with Barclays:
One to get paid into that I have a Visa debit on (card account)
One for savings (savings account) - I put money in here I am trying not to spend and it's safe from DD's or fees and charges.
One that my DD's go out of (Billing account) - that's the "lost" account, I transfer most of my money in there on payday and forget about it, the bills all get sucked out and I never see that money again, it helps to pretend i don't have it, lol
I also have a Nationwide account that DS's child benefit £20 goes in to, I put it in there so if there's ever some major disaster with Barclays we'll always have £20."There is no substitute for time."
Competition wins:
2013. Three bottles of oxygen! And a family ticket to intech science centre. 2011. The Lake District Cheese Co Cow and bunny pop up play tent, cheese voucher, beach ball and cuddly toy cow and bunny and a £20 ToysRus voucher!0 -
Halifax -
Reward Current Account (main account)
Web Saver Reward (for instant access savings)
Direct Reward 4 ISA
Lloyds TSB -
Classic Vantage (I don't really use this anymore but it keep it open as a spare current account and in case I can get enough spare cash to hit the higher interest rates again)
Santander -
First Home Saver
I wouldn't ordinarily have so much with one bank as I do with Halifax because I always follow good rates, but I've got great interest rates through them from the Reward bonus rates. I've also found it convenient to be able to pay money between my current account and my savings very quickly. It lets me keep a very low balance in my current account and more money in savings.
I'm interested in the Co-Op £200 offer - presumably you have to transfer some/all SO and DD? Do they let you select one or two to transfer or do they do them all for you?0 -

Current accounts:
Barclays - main personal account
Natwest - tied to an old staff loan which allegedly I cannot close til the loan is paid off
Nationwide - to gain access to savings
HSBC - main business account
Savings
Nationwide *2
First Direct
Santander - business savings
Keep going to switch from using Barclays for main current account but everyone seems as bad as them and have the somewhat lock in of free insurances/ warranties etc that wouldn't be possible to transfer0 -
The One Account.
Halifax Reward times 3 plus Easycash, Websaver Variable without ATM card, Websaver Extra, Save4it and Childrens Regular Saver.
Natwest Step, First Reserve, Direct Business Current.
Santander Preferred In Credit Reward, Monthly Saver, Online Saver.
Barclays Current Account, Monthly Savings, Business Free, Business Saver.
Co-op Current Account.
RBS Guernsey International Current Account.
There must be more. I have too many cards around....:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S)
Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.

I have:
Halifax Reward (salary in; free fiver)
Halifax Current (bills)
Natwest Select (spending)
Barclays Cashcard (for PayPal and giving out account info)
Bank of Scotland Easycash (old basic account, keeping open)
Co-operative Current (for free £200)
Plus, savings wise:
Halifax Online Saver
Santander e-Saver
Would probably do just fine with one or two accounts though...0 -

Once upon time things were different and it was easier to open multiple accounts, but it's not so now. Always best to take advantage of these type of offers when they first appear as they do tend to change after time. Lloyds Vantage were the same, at one time you could get away with unlimited, now it's 3. Many have been successful in opening more the the stipulated 2 Santander Preferred accounts.0
