Curiousness: How many different banks do you have an account with?

What if an administrative or technical problem were to result in suspension of access? Even if you don't care to play the rewards game, it seems wise to have a current account with at least two separate institutions. Like any backup, it's only a waste of time until you need it.JuicyJesus wrote: »I have one.
I don't see the point in having several accounts dotted around everywhere.0 -
I have my salary paid into an RBS account (whether I like it or not).
I use a Halifax account for gambling and ensure I put enough through it to get my £5pm.
I've just opened a Co-op account to get the £200 'switching' incentive.
In the last five years I've had and closed accounts with Barclays, Santander, HSBC & First Direct. Generally opened for incentives and/or cashback.0 -
I started dabbling in multiple current accounts about 15 years ago when you had to open a current account to operate the linked savings account, so I have a few that are really now redundant, or are only for a particular purpose...
Intelligent Finance (was linked to savings)
Ulster Bank (was for short term savings)
2 x Nationwide (were linked a/cs but now used for back-up cash abroad)
also.....
3 x Lloyds Vantages (now empty but hoping to refill)
1 x joint + 3 solo Halifax/Bos Rewards
Would like to earn the £200 from Co-op offer, IF account is "spare", but has no DDs or SOs on it.0 -
Only ever held one current account at once until now but interested in a second one -What's the score for new accounts for 'unemployed' with plenty of capital? I'm not collecting my proper pension for a couple of years so theoretically tiny income. Anybody opened account recently in these circumstances? Previously dumped many years with Barclays for Abbey (when they were still good!), then dumped Abbey/Santander for Smile (Excellent!!). Just would be convenient to have second current acct for future stuff to do with parents property.
Grommit - Wonder why you think Co-op is cr*p?? Never heard anything but good reports personally and always feature well with 'Which' customers.Once it's gone, it's gone - so remember...
Pay for the things you need before you dream about the stuff you want :think:0 -
HSBC Premier (main account)
2 x Lloyds TSB (classic + vantage)
Nationwide Current Account
Halifax Current Account (not used)
Gonna close the Lloyds classic.0 -
I have 2
A current account with The Cumberland Building Society and Coventry First wiht Coventry Building Society0 -
In terms of Current Accounts, I've got four currently open:
Halifax Reward (main account)
Barclays Bank Account (handy branch very near my place of work)
Nationwide FlexAccount (forced to open when I took out my mortgage).
Metro Bank Current Account (forced to open to get their Credit Card).
Apart from a long-closed Abbey National account which I had as a kid, these are the only Current Accounts I've ever had.
I've had shed loads of different Savings accounts and Credit Card accounts over the years.0 -
Just my experience with them (and customer service) whilst trying to setup a new account with them (and switch DD/SOs to them). Got nothing but incorrect or misleading information and I don't think much of their internet banking either.MsSupertech wrote: »Grommit - Wonder why you think Co-op is cr*p?? I have 3 natwest accounts (main banking)
Lloyds Tsb Silver account (spending account)
And a standard Barclays bank account (Back up)
May close two of my Natwest accounts as one is the old step account.
Have been thinking if things would be easier with just one bank account with all your main bills going out and general spending going out?It takes two to tango!:rotfl:0 -
