We're paying £1950. The lady is somebody I know well and feel 100% comfortable & confident in her abilities. She's very well known and highly recommended in the area. I've decided to feed her as if she were a guest at the wedding breakfast, but that's my decision as she has done quite a lot for me in the past.
Our wedding is a Saturday in wedding season & the price includes:
-Pre-Wedding shoot at either the wedding venue or another of our choice
-Coverage from bride's house (as early as needs be) until after the first dance (basically until she feels she has all the shots).
-Photographer + assistant
-All photos fully edited & in a password-protected online gallery forever
-Photos from pre-wedding shoot & wedding in a digital acrylic frame
-50 Thankyou cards using a photo from the day
The digital acrylic is amazing - it's basically four digital photo frames mounted into an acrylic frame and the photographer uploads all of the edited photos from the pre-wedding shoot and the wedding day. We can upload our own photos into it as well whenever we like so can add other people's from the wedding, if we have kids etc. When it's switched off the frames turn in to mirrors, and you can have music playing on it as well. We could have had a top-spec Queensberry album with 50 photos for the same price, but we wouldn't look at a physical album very often and the frame will look fantastic in our living room where we'll be able to see the photos every day.
The photographer is a third of our budget, but it's the one thing that we felt we wanted to splash out on, as it's the only thing we'll be left with when the wedding is over. Because of our timings, she'll be with us from about 10am until about 10pm and travelling about 90 miles during the day. Add on an hour each side of the start/finish time for travelling, and add on the editing time, petrol & trade cost of the frame etc... People seem to forget that the photographer doesn't finish at the end of the wedding day, editing can take at least twice as long as the day itself!0 -
If your in the Bath/Somerset area or within decent travel i can recommend

Very experienced and easy to get along with..Feudal Britain needs land reform. 70% of the land is "owned" by 1 % of the population and at least 50% is unregistered (inherited by landed gentry). Thats why your slave box costs so much..0 -
We are paying £925. Photographers are incredibly expensive, but I feel like it's worth paying for good photos as I love looking at the afterwards.
For £925 we are getting:
* Pre-wedding shoot
* Photographer there for bridal prep 2 hours before ceremony
* Coverage until first dance
* All pics available for viewing on website
* CD with ALL photos taken on day and full copyright
* DVD slideshow of images, including video of vows
* A4 Photobook album
* 8 prints done during meal as presents for bridesmaids
* 3 prints done during meal as presents for parents
* A large canvas of our choice
The guy doing it is really lovely and said that he helps to keep the day running to time as well. He knows everyone at our venue so is getting fed for free. Finally, debt free for the first time since I was 18!:DFirst baby born: 21/05/2014Second baby born: 04/03/20170 -
We paid £1,295 for our wedding photography and it was money well spent!! We had a discount because it was a Friday, and 10% off the package we put together.
We had all day coverage 8 hours (although he arrived early to scope out the venue and went late.)
We had an Infinity album (14 x 10 inch size) paid for 30 sides (its the top album on this page, http://iphotix.com/wedding-photography-prices I cannot explain how amazing it is to hold!)
We had a parents album made too (an exact replica of the one above but 8 x 6 size)
No travel costs to pay (even though we were a 100 mile ish round trip away)
Nothing to pay out for food.
Now the extra bits that made it even better
Before we'd even booked he offered us a complimentary (we actually 2 in the end!) engagement shoot complete with discs of each with reproduction rights (very handy as we used the pics for invitations, wedding website, canvas print lol!)
Although we only paid for 30 sides in our wedding album he made an album up of 54 sides instead (at no extra cost!!!) because he didn't want to cull any further and wanted us to have a full album of stunning photos
The album - OMG I cannot rave about this album enough - theres hundreds of photos in it Multiple ones on some pages, massive beautiful spreads on others, he even (on our request) incorporated our wedding promises. Everytime we look at it we discover something else (like the background pictures)
He caught our "gangsta punch" when I got the the end of the aisle!
As an apology for not responding to an email (it was only me saying I'd sent an instalment over - I didn't even notice he hadn't replied) he made us a guest signature book using our engagement shoot pictures
The speed - We got married on 23rd Sept, a proof of the album was emailed to us on 8th Nov and our finalised albums were hand deivered on 2nd December
We had lots of compliments from the guests about our photographers behaviour, lots of people commented they felt at ease (even those who do not like pictures being taken) during posed family shots and that they didn't even notice him taking candid shots.
I don't think his website does him justice, I'm glad we had him bring some albums over. I think you find out an awful lot more when chatting to them, than looking at a website.:kisses2: Got married September 2011:smileyhea

A lovely wallet with two Dvd’s [ one with the photo’s on, and the other with your Dvd movie on.]
Two extra copies of the movie for both Mum’s
One year planner with a nice photograph of all your family around the register.
50 copies of a nice photograph [6x4] of the Bride and Groom to use as a... Thank you for your Kind Gift. (more if needed)
A box containing all the photographs taken in proof form.
There is no copyright through the photographs, and the Dvd’s are not locked so we make as many copies we wish.
He is Lovely too and we have attended a wedding which he covered and saw the finished results so we know what we are getting. He is also contacting the church and venue before the wedding to arrange a visit so he can pic out areas for good photo's.
i think its pretty good value and loads cheaper than we were quoted elsewhere for alot less.

I have a friend who takes the most gorgeous reportage-style wedding pictures and will probably be asking her to take the photos when I get married - she charges £850 for unlimited coverage of the day, all the pictures on a USB stick and an engagement shoot if you want it, plus travel costs (she's based in Derbyshire). The photos are absolutely beautiful and having had her take some photos of me and OH she put us both at ease and made us feel very relaxed, so I'd feel safe that she would be able to take great pictures and not be overbearing or imposing.
Here's the link to her website if you fancy a look: https://www.hannahmillardphotography.co.uk"A mind needs books as a sword needs a whetstone, if it is to keep its edge." - Tyrion LannisterMarried my best friend 1st November 2014Loose = the opposite of tight (eg "These trousers feel a little loose")Lose = the opposite of find/gain (eg "I'm going to lose weight this year")0 -
We paid around £2k for ours. For that we got:
Pre-shoot, online gallery of pre-shoot photos and pre-shoot album to use as guest book at wedding.
Full day coverage...I'd estimate around 10 hours...with 2 photographers (plus an extra one on work experience) - one photographer each with bride and groom during prep.
online gallery of wedding photos - 868 edited images.
All photos hi-res on DVDs.
Seriously fancy album.
Sure there's a bunch more stuff, too.
I was so impressed. They were incredibly efficient, very professional, very discrete. Above all else, they took amazing photos.
For the stuff they provided, I think the price was actually pretty good value.0 -

If you want to print the images, remember that without a contract, the wedding photographer keeps the copyrights to the images. That means that the couple won't legally be entitled to edit, reproduce or publish their images, without the photographers prior consent. With regards to the fees, as in any other industry, there are different photographers, and accordingly they charge differently. Many couples reserve about 30 % of their wedding budget for the photographer and prints.

Thought I'd add mine, as I've just had my photographer confirm. It's a former work colleague who is a photo editor and part-time professional photographer.
She's not a wedding photographer by trade, so some would see that as a risk, but we don't want traditional wedding shots anyway. She mainly does events, gigs and the odd celebrity portrait (so I get to tell people we've got a celebrity photographer, ha ha!).
We're paying £400 for her plus an assistant all day and evening, with colour-corrected, hi-res photos on a disc for us to print as we see fit. I'm really thrilled we've got her!0
