Can i ask what your paying for your photographer & what you get for that?

Options
I have chosen my photographers & had budgeted for £1000 for photos, although it seems so much to me, but apparently that is a average price. I have to send over a deposit this weekend but after chatting to them today, i think im going to have a look around this weekend do some research & see what other photographers charge £1000 & what you get for it

The girls doing mine, there pictures are amazing, there very good at there job. Im being charged £1000 (the price has just gone up to £1.500) & for that i get a disk of about 300 high res pictures. No print outs. I get 2 girls who arrive in the morning & go at 8pm or the frst dance which ever come first

I have to also pay on top £150 for travel expenses & there time. They are doing about a 2hr journey so 4 hours in total on the day.

I just thought i would get more than a disc for £1000 - im going to have to get some of the photos printed myself so il prob end up spending a few hundred pound more

    We paid £1000 for 2 photographers for 9 hours or so in central London. Basically from preparation to a bit after the first dance. No travel costs, although they were travelling about 1 hour to get there. We did give them dinner though, as well as the band.

    (Incidentally, that's a little extra cost to think about when you are budgeting. We had a band with 7 people and the 2 photographers. They cost between £15-£25 pp for dinner purchased at the hotel bar)

    This includes a CD with images, about 3-400 they said, which will all be individually retouched. Haven't seen them yet, but hopefully they are good! The package was discounted from £1500 I think as we booked so early, as well as being just on the edge of the main wedding 'season'.

    Our package should have been £950 but we got a 50% off deal, so are only paying £475 for the following:

    Planning and Advice Prior to your Wedding

    2 Photographers to cover your day from different angles

    Photographs taken from the ceremony to the end of your first dance;

    All edited photos taken on the day on complimentary DVD ;

    EIGHT Complementary 12x8 Photographs of your choice

    80 photos mounted within our Traditional 10x10 album Persona or Madrid

    We start at the church where we can capture The Groom as he nervously awaits his bride, the arrival of the guests, also we'll capture the ushers
    and the Best Man organising guests.

    As everyone takes their seats we'll capture the arrival of the Bride outside and Depending on restrictions capture the entire service. (Walking down the aisle, vows, exchanging of rings and of course signing the register)

    We'll finish off with the happy couple leaving the Venue, confetti if allowed and some casual shots with your guests

    We will capture formal shots at your wedding venue (if you wish) before moving on to your reception venue where we'll take your main formal
    shots, the toast, speeches, and the cutting of the cake and everything up to the first dance.

    Throughout the day we'll capture your guests enjoying your great day.

    Time permitting we'll take the happy couple off on their own to capture some private magical memories

    Once we'd booked him, and added his page to my facebook, 2 friends said that they knew his work and how good he was!

    Look around for deals is my advice

  • We're paying £450 + £40 travel (Swindon to Bristol) for five hours, with a high res disc of all photos with full printing rights. He normally charges that amount for four hours but is throwing in the fifth hour for free.

    Some of the photographers we were looking at were charging £1,000+, and given the cost of the equipment, amount of experience, time spent editing etc, the actual hourly rate they're left with is not as high as you'd think. We just simply didn't have the budget to pay more. The guy we're going with is semi-pro - he has years of experience but has another job as well so doesn't need to charge quite as much as it's not his sole source of income. His photos are amazing, and he's a lovely bloke, which is important!

  • We found a photographer for £1400 and that was the bridal prep right through to the evening eith a disc of everything and an album. This was too expensive though :o
    We then found a cheaper lady at £800 for a similar package although she only did photobooks and these looked just ok nothing amazing.
    So we have now gone down another route and will be booking a company to do a disc only package, he will do the bridal prep through to the evening and give us all the edited images on disc. This will include social effects like black and white, colours popping out of black and White photos etc and also a DVD slide show of images to music. This costs £299 so leave loads for us to find and make our one perfect album/photobook. I had a long phone call with the guy about the type of shots and style we wanted and from looking at his work I thibk he is exactly what we wanted :T

  • 230 for 6hrs coverage and a disc with 130 photos fully edited and copyright, he said he will come to the house to do bridal prep but I’m not sure I want this as i get so nervous so prob will just ask him to go straight to the venue and get the groom and guests before my arrival. xxx
  • £50 and had 3 photographers.

    Photographer 1: = £50 (she actually only wanted £30, but my dad was impressed so gave her £50). She was with us from 11:30am - 5:30pm. Got a disc with unprocessed photos of 200, then was to choose 50 to be edited and got those on a disc.

    Photographer 2: £0 and was at the venue from 2:30pm - 5:30pm. Got a disc with 150 photos

    Photographer 3: £0 and was at the venue from 2:30pm - 4pm. He was from a professional company and I signed a contract to have them for only 1.5 hrs in order to get a disc with 100 free photos and our photos will be used to advertise on his website.

    We only had 3 as photographer 2 was my now mother in laws friend and he wanted wedding experience. Photographer 3 hadn't heard back from for weeks after sending back signed contract so was panicing about them not turning up when I found photograher 1 who wanted low key wedding experience as has only been doing it as a hobby since last Dec.

    Photographer 1 + 2 were the best. Considering the 3rd was from a company and I had to sign a contract the photos weren't anywhere as good as the others.

    I now have loadsssss and am putting together our albums.

  • Our photographers are award-winning, and fully registered with just about every professional photography and wedding photography overseeing body out there!

    For £995 we get:
    * Complimentary engagement shoot prior to the big day
    * Signature mount for guests to sign on your wedding day
    * 2 photographers from Bride & Groom preparations to first dance
    * Unlimited reportage wedding coverage
    * Family and group portraits
    * Intimate couple photography throughout the day (in short bursts, not disappearing for hours!)
    * A "portable studio" with lighting for stunning evening and night photography
    * "Rainy day guarantee" (if it rains on the day, they'll come back again to do outside shots for free)
    * Hundreds of final images to choose from
    * Professional retouching and image production
    * Private online gallery for viewing, sharing and ordering
    * Guest card so family and friends can see your wedding images
    * Travel and expenses included (though we provide them two meals on the day)

    We got this because we promised that within the first two years we would spend at least £500 on "a bespoke, leather-bound Italian story-book album" containing at least 40 fully-retouched and produced images (we can add more if we choose).

    I thought that, yes, they're expensive, but about even with other local photographers, we get a lot for our money, and we have two years to save up for (and design) our beautiful album!
    Life on a shoestring!

    thats way too much for what you are getting. for that price I'm getting:

    2 photographers all day

    engagement shoot

    framed pic from engagement shoot and disk

    as many posed pics as i want on the day and unposed pics.

    disk with at least 500 HD edited pics.

    and i think an album.

    my photographer is travelling over 250 miles to shoot my wedding, I'm very fussy as I'm a photographer myself. i really think you are being ripped off. the prices lately have gone wild. my OH thinks £1500 is too expensive but its not something I'm willing to compromise on, i knew who i wanted and I'm willing to pay the price but your package is a little too pricey for what your getting. you should at least get an engagement shoot so you can bond with your photographers and see what you do and don't like.
  • I think there is a very wide range of prices in phtographers, the one thing I would probably say is try and get someone who comes reccomended
