  • Ryanair clearly state that you need to check in online and print your boarding pass and they also send a reminder email shortly before you travel! What more can they do, if you choose not to check the terms and conditions fair enough but they do make this quite clear and transparent!

signs outside the 'duty free' shop at Valencia airport say something along the lines of 'anything bought in this shop can be carried in an additional bag to your normal handbaggage - this applies to ALL airlines flying from this airport'.

that contravenes both ryanair and esayjet t's and c's which say one bag in the cabin

I am totally aware of that - I am just repeating what I witnessed and saw at Valencia airport - interestingly I only saw the sign in English and not Spanish.

I take it that you don't use them, so let me explain,
because after hundreds of flights, sometimes several in one week, I can tell you they are the cheapest and most reliable major airline in Europe.
They also often serve airports much closer to where people want to go, not everyone's final destination is next door to a hub.
If people can't read or spell their own name or e-mail address that's their fault not Ryanair's.
To the vast majority of passengers the only differences between Ryanair and most other carriers is the free seating policy and the savings they can make
flying around Europe on short-haul flights from 6 Euro's all inclusive.

That's why thousands of regular passengers fly with them week in week out.

When you buy a Ryanair ticket you have to tick the box "I agree with terms & conditions", and there it specifies clearly that it's mandatory to print the boarding pass in order to avoid paying that fee. So even without the confirmation email, your family member is completely wrong, because he/she accepted a terms a condition without even reading them....

About why some people fly, we do because can't afford other airlines and live far from our family, and Ryanair makes our lives easier and happier!! It's as simple as that.

The duty free shop at Liverpool Airport has similar notices up; Easyjet and Ryanair will permit a duty free bag in addition to the one piece of cabin baggage per person; the Airport was probably losing too much income so came to an agreement with the airlines

Quite right too. This one bag rule was just an attempt to extract more money from their customers.

RE refund of £40. Good luck with that. They will not refund the 40 quid without you taking them to court.

At Valencia last week a Spanish guy came to board with all the info on his iPhone - obviously not accepted but he was not charged the £40 as they quickly took him off to a 'small room' where it was printed off. In addition signs outside the 'duty free' shop at Valencia airport say something along the lines of 'anything bought in this shop can be carried in an additional bag to your normal handbaggage - this applies to ALL airlines flying from this airport'.

They had similar signs at Girona in the summer without the "this applies to ALL airlines flying from this airport" bit but a small asterix and some small print at the bottom that said 'check with your airline'. When these signs started appearing at some UK airports I phoned Ryanair CS number and thye knew nothing about it. I suspect there may have been some deal between airport and airline but Ryanair want to keep quite about it.
