What can you do about it?
Well in theory you could take them to court. You could even apply to have the bank wound up if you are owed more than £750 following a decision in your favour by an Ombudsman (making it a legally enforcible debt) but that will not make it any faster.
They are undoubtedly moving as fast as they can - if only because the interest they must pay on it is more than they are likely to make by lending it out so it will cost them more.
If you put obstacles in their way it MAY make things faster but it is more likely to slow things down.

I am rapidly approaching 60 days on my repayment for a Lloyds TSB refinance loan, where i was in no uncertain terms told take the PPI or you're not getting the loan. Well on a call today i was told call us back if you haven't had anything by December, which will be 90 days. The guy then said have a nice day and hung up on me!
Thing is i am still paying back the loan, but via Direct Debit from my First Direct bank account, i am seriously tempted to stop my DD and when they start chasing me on it, tell them to call the PPI line as im using that to offset the payments i am owed.
Im sure however they would find a way to screw me on it!!
Bloody disgraceful behaviour!0 -
Hi,
Can some one help me before i scream I sent My PPI request same time as my sister (same post box) she got £4000 paid in her natwest account in 6 weeks back ( she owe them £** thousands and still banks with them and has current loan) 2 years later im still waiting HSBC gone over all time scales that Fos gave them by weeks finally got a offer of £1,252 in September which states to accept fill in the bank details of account you wish money to be paid in to, if want paid in to HSBC leave blank. so put my Natwest bank in as i don't bank with HSBC any more and signed it after 7 days no response i rang them spoke to a lady who said they received it 3 days after i sent it, its being processes and will be paid into my Natwest account with in 7 days and a fast transfer. 7 days went rang up again using main HSBC number as i found out on that call they had disconnected the number stated on letters as they were getting to many calls. The adviser refused to speak to me regarding my complaint asked to speak to manager they said same, so asked to speak to some one higher they refused then informed him of fsa guideline with complaints and with that he said get a higher manager to call me back with in 24 hours. the call i never got. I have rung them back numerous times every time they refuse to talk to me as they wont take my details there no log of these calls. On the 24th of October got a letter that states 'to help my credit score' they were using the money i due towards the £5000 i owe them. On same day i got letter from metropolitan who HSBC transferred my loan saying i owe £5000 still and accepted to payments of £25 a month that was agreed. As for my credit score paying just over a grand of my loan will not help my credit score as in debt management. Number on HSBC letter for complaints is switched off got a number from a friend for HSBC head of complaints women agreed with me totally promised call back with in 24hrs which never happened called back got another women that answered this time said i should of been told 4 weeks at least for a call back. ( which i think unacceptable) Ombudsmen are trying to get in touch with them with no luck. to summaries if i sign a contract which states i want money im owe to go to my natwest account. can they use it for my loan that with metropolitain thats agreed for me to pay them £25 a month and i'm debt managment so wont help my credit score. I need you guys help what to do next as its getting me so stress and i'm fed up of me spoken to like dirt and lied to be HSBC. Thank you for helping x0 -
if they just paid it and stop changing goal post they would have less complaint calls so more staff to action refunds x0

If you are in arrears, they can take any redress off what you owe.
I know this stinks,as if you did not have ppi that you didnt need and did not pay for, that money would not have been given to the bank in the first place, how they have the cheek to take it back i dont know.
If you have more pressing bills to pay,Mortgage council tax etc,you could tell them you need this money to pay these, sometimes this helps.0 -
Thought I'd share with you my very different experiences from 2 companies. (Lloyds - you could do with finding out how the others manage it!!)
Back at the begining of May I sent a PPI complaint letter to Lloyds TBS for a loan I had with them. I received a letter from them at the end of Aug to say they had upheld my complaint and that I would receive the figures soon. Figures were posted in a letter dated 16th Sept. I am still waiting for any sign of this payment and judging by the comments on this site I may be waiting for a while!!
Spurred on by my Lloyds success I wrote to Egg about another loan I took out. I sent them a letter on the 14th Sept and yesterday (26th Oct) I received a letter upholding the complaint, giving me the figures and enclosing a cheque for the full amount!!!!
So, Egg can sort it out in 6 weeks, from start to finish. Lloyds are on week 25 with my complaint and I am still waiting for my money!!
Any dealings I've had with Egg have always been swift. Out of all the various banks I'm in contact with over various issues, these appear to be far and away the best.0 -
Hi,
After receiving my offer in sept, I was told of 28 days....still waiting.....So I phoned Lloydstsb today(2/11/11)
The lady on the end of the phone said that letters were been sent to everyone next week explaining that they will be recalculating the interest and giving you another 4 weeks interest on top, because of the long delay of issuing peoples cheques.
Hope this helps anyone
Cheers

Earlier today they were saying "letter being sent out this week, with you by the weekend", now they are saying "letter to be sent out next week" If they wait till next week to sort it out and only add a further 4 weeks interest that will still be too little too late.
My interest on the initial offer was up to 5 October 11, next Monday is 7 November 11 so not enough days to cover the delay. Also when you take into consideration the rate will be 8% simple (probably) and I want to use this money to pay off a credit card (with Lloyds)which is at 29.4% APR they are still making money at my expense purely as a result of being inefficient.
They are getting closer, but they aren't quite there yet.Money Saving IQ 142 - Does that mean I am tight?0 -
I got my offer at end of August from Barclaycard, had been dumb enough not to do it myself. Was told 28 days from September 13th - still waiting. Didn't help the company dealing with claim as they were sending out standard letters every week threatening court action if not paid their share, to be fair they have been very nice on the phone and understand the problem. I can't even call Barclaycard to find out when payment due as there line says they can't tell you. I'd like to charge them the interest they charge me per month - would be quite a lot on 9K0
