Ha! Does anyone remember my alchemy of t'other evening, turning chicken bones into the Elixir of Stock? Well I used the stock :D In a sauce to go with meatballs and pasta :D And and and........while it was cooking I mixed the fat from the top of the stock with wildbird seed and will put it out for them tomorrow. Tee hee :D *does one thing and thinks she's Superwoman*

You'll be knitting your own yogurt soon :), well done :T

  • Am sitting here eating DS1's cold potato wedges he didn't want... (I suspect he's back at the trick of using his dinner money to buy sweets >:[ )and thinking 'Maybe I need to be throwing food away instead of eating it all if I want to loose weight ;-) 'Couldn't even take them for lunch tomorrow as we're having pizza as its a colleague's birthday.

Think I need to think about portion sizing & making sure I've food ready for the right times...I had to get DS2 from afterschool club, & we didn't get in till just after 5, DS1 has Beaver Scouts on Tuesdays (Young Leader) so needs to eat early to get there for 6. I'd planned the meal & had the ingredients, & I even had the time to prep the meal before getting DS2 from afterschool club. But I went on Facebook & failed!
  • Can anyone tell me if I juice up soft fruits can I freeze the juice - been watching food hospital I admit and I want to try and increase our soft food intake, but I know if hubby is offered them he will want cream on them so was thinking buy them and juice them together for us to drink, but I know me if I buy them to juice daily, I will have a bad day or three unable to get out of bed and so they will just go off - has happened to often, so if I can juice and freeze then hubby can just take them out the freezer daily for us to drink, or suck as ice lollies maybe :)

    Thanks
Need to get back to getting finances under control now kin kid at uni as savings are zilch

I had this problem with DD 2 &3 - buying sweets with dinner money(they are teens)until I solved the problem when I gave them a basic packed lunch, sarnie, wrap, soup or whatever, crisps and fruit and I give them £10 a week extra -sounds a lot but from it they have to pay bus fares for school/college and DD3 pays for a weekly gym trip leaving them about £3 a week each - I tell them it's up to them how they use it so if they want to spend 60p on a bar of chocolate or a can of drink each day they can ,but they soon realise it doesn't go far (I don't give them anymore)- in fact it has been known for them to club together to buy bulk items to share over week. But more than ever they don't buy it everyday but save money to use over weekend for other things.

In fact they probably have less sweet & fizzy drinks now they have the money and choice to buy then when they used their dinner money and it was secretative!

Good idea! I'd have to give him more than a tenner a school bus fare is £10 a week:-( He's pretty good most of the time & takes packed lunch, but likes school dinner (money ;-) ) when he had PE as it leaves more room in his bag.

    Hello all,

I need to add about another 50p. Aldi bread, I knew I shouldn't have. The store I use - the fruit and veg dosn't keep either, so why I expected the bread to be any different, :D

We don't get through much as it is, but I've froze half the loaf this time, so that it keeps.

Also, have to own up to half a swede which was totally my fault. I didn't freeze the remainder.

So £1.30 at a guess, so far.

One orange curd tart... guess at 10p.

My fault. Got two out to have with my cuppa for elevensies... ate one, got busy writing a long post and Sally, (my cat), who NEVER eats human food, started licking the orange curd and was purring like a good 'un! She didn't try eating it - just licked it.

I just left it where it was, and blow me if, after purring and licking her lips for a solid twenty minutes - she went back for another go!

Since when does orange curd have almost the same effect as catnip?

Anyway - now up to £1.16 for this month.

With the remaining stock from the other night, I made a chunky veg soup which DH and I had for lunch today (he comes home for his lunch) with a couple of cheese scones. The small remaining amount of veg soup, I've added spices to and will have on top of baked spud tonight, and we have baked spud pot luck :D

1x chicken and mushroom slice has gone in the bin, I bought they ready made and froze a twinpack for OH lunches, defrosted them last night and he bit into one and it was full of horrid wateryness so have binned the other one. It didn't say it couldn't be frozen so at a loss as to why it went weird and didn't know how to save the other one!

Not bad though - since started it's the only thing aside from a few spoons of cereal thats been thrown away :)
Trying very hard to be frugal and OS - just plodding on and doing my best!
