Hope that's a typo CompBunny  If not you defo need to get some custard creams in you girl :)

Had a rubbish, rubbish day today. Him indoors was in SUCH a mard that i have now written the day off and will scrub it from my memory while sleeping tonight! I don't care if I have memories of a very short weekend! :p

ETA: I can't remember how much I've spent on groceries... I'm def spending less than I would be if I didn't set a target though :)

  • Have not been adding up my receipts as I go. The grocery purse was empty ages ago & so have been fleecing other budgets to get us by!

It wasn't helped by the fact we had people over for fajitas today & I had to go out & buy all the ingredients except the chicken! I make virtually everything from scratch. I made my own salsa & guacamole but today I just couldn't be bothered to make dessert & so I bought one. The visitors were DH relatives & he went out to play golf & returned 5 mins before visitors arrived () so I thought, what the heck! As tip for anyone who does buy their desserts I thought it was quite a bargain! In Mr T had picked up a cheesecake for about £2 but then bumped into friend who told me about a half price & apple pie & fresh custard. Pie was decent sized portions for 6 & I think it totalled £1.58!

I am excited for Friday, the start of our month when I can really go for this & really TRY to stick to the budget!

  • Went to Mr M and Lidl on the way home from work. Mr M is always good for bread but expensive on most things I find. Got 4 packs of reduced Bratwurst sausages in Lidl-the only sausages dh will eat! Lots of fruit and veg and the oranges were really nice.so far this months it's £180 on food which is less than normal and I'm trying to refil any spaces made in the freezer with bread so that I can run it down a bit. I managed to get 3 loaves in which was good! Only paid 39p per loaf for the bread so 3 in freezer and one in breadbin. Had a big Sunday lunch today but it was beefburgers rather than chicken as i'm a bit fed up with chicken and wanted to use up the Aberdeen Angus burgers from Waitrose so I don't feel I compromised on quality. NSD today and I will need to buy fuel tomorrow but not on this budget. Difficult day looming tomorrow as going to Crem to visit my Mums plot and visiting a terminally ill Aunt. Taking my brother with me as I know he wants to go but is one of those who never will do it on his own! Saving him petrol too as I know he cannot afford it. This month is flying by so fast it's scary!
Annual Grocery budget 2018 is £1500 pa £125 calendar month £28.84 pw for 3 adults
  • Ekk I don't think we are going to come in budget this month. We are doing a lot of bulk shopping this month though as we are preparing for the bad weather that will come and trying to fill the freezer (not a small task as it is huge).

    Budget - £110
    Spent - £73.63
    Left - £36.37
Yep 'fail' :(. As it stands we are £40.26 over budget . If we do buy anything else it won't be much!

This did however include just over £40 on meat for my partner - portioned up and in the freezer.

The freezer is basically full now which is good. I knew it wouldn't be cheap to basically fill it and I was right.
The cupboards etc are basically full as is the fridge etc.

    Budget - £110
    Spent - £150.26
    Left - £-40.26

    Hi Doom and Gloom,

That's NOT a fail! :naughty: You are now stocked to levels that you feel comfortable with and have prepped for winter. In view of the need to fill your freezer and cupboards your budget was problaby too low, so don't think of it as a failure in any way to be safeguarding for your family. :p

Off to work now so see you all later.

    Take care,

    Thinking of you. xx

I'm [STRIKE]hoping for a[/STRIKE] having a NSD today, as both me and DD are home ill. Just a tummy bug, but bluergh!!

I'm taking the opportunity of being given a 'free' day to do some jobs around the house while dd sits in front of the telly. I shall rest too, of course, and have regular snuggles with her, but if i do nothing, i shall feel i wasted my day, even though i'm ill, iyswim!!

I only have £15 and some pence left in my grocery purse, and I've decided I'm going to do that for the whole of next month - have a purse with my money in, and when it's gone it's gone...

Grocery challenge for family of three - me, dd(12) and ds(11), feeding dp 2 or 3 x a week too. Only food, not toiletries. Jan £87.97/£100 Feb £0/£100
Frugal 2018 needed! Saving and NOT spending
  • Have just dropped car off for MOT (fingers crossed!) so will go shopping later. I need to get stuff for my cupcakes but am going to use new budget for those things. I am going to go to Tesco and get most of the stuff as the baking 3 4 2 ends today.

I need to get veg and milk so will go to Aldi for that.

Lunch today is hm leek and potato soup for me (packed lunch for kids) and dinner will be something with the chicken thigh fillets I have got out of the freezer - might make a kind of rice bake thingie.

Pipersky Sorry your OH was having a foul mood day yesterday, lets hope he got up on the right side of the bed today! Afraid BMI isn;t a typo, stress makes me either fat or skinny - gotta start trying to keep on top of that!

    - Hope you get on ok at the cemetery and visiting your aunt. Thinking of you and your brother, it sounds like a tough day for you both x

recovering spendaholic hope your car passes its MOT with no problems (and no advisories!), I hate that feeling waiting for "the call" to tell you where you stand!

Quintwins hope your little ones feel better soon :( Poor things!

Hopefully an NSD for us today, we inherited a Tesco Finest caramelised onion and goats cheese tart so will do that with some veg and some kind of potato for tea. OH has some sweet chilli noodles with sweetcorn, onion and salami (and lots of extra sweet chilli sauce) for lunch to microwave at work so won't be too hungry and I plan to have some carrots and toast sticks with either peanut butter or hummus and maybe a scone yum!
