Spent some more from my budget today:

    £14.61 in Tesco
    £10.29 in Morrisons

That takes me to £62.36 spent out of my £200 December budget and it's only two days since payday :rotfl::rotfl:

I am now nicely stocked on tinned goods, catfood and freezer items, so hoping to be nice and thrifty for the rest of the month. The Aldi Super 6 are good for soup making/stews too, so I'll nip in there later in the week and get lots of fresh veg.

Tonight's dinner is going to be chicken fried in chilli-flavoured olive oil and I'm going to make a tomato sauce with brocolli and babycorn. I'm only going to use half a chicken breast as it's just for me so I'll have the rest in a wrap for lunch tomorrow. Tasty and economical :D

Spent a total of £22.53 in Mr M's on Friday - which is ok but will need more milk and bread mid week.

Did spend an extra fiver over weekend on a bottle of wine but since I hardly ever go out that is coming out of treat/entertainment budget(not that I actually have one as they are so rare anyway!)- anyway it lasted over two days with a couple of us drinking it so not too bad I suppose.

Methinks I may be sailing close to this months budget but at least I know what am spending nowadays rather than willy nilly spending without a thought - so many thanks to all who post on the board and to those who run it - you're all wonderful:A

69p spent on a jar of mixed spice at Mr S to finish making the last Christmas cake. Only got one done today so the last one will have to wait until tomorrow night as I will need the oven for dinner shortly.

I got my big slow cooker out of the loft today ( I have a small 2 person one that lives in the kitchen but this is a big one) and DH's eyes lit up at the thought of sausage casserole so that is going on the meal plan this week. This week I am leaving the house at 10.30, DH is not in until 6 and then I get in at half 8 so I think I may need to get a timer plug to get it to come on at about 12 or it will have evaporated by the time I get in. I am also going to try making chilli in it for the first time. I can't remember the last time I use3d either of my slow cookers:o

DH said he is not bothered about too much meat next month, he wants to lose a bit of weight, s that should help the shopping budget:)

I always find that if I make stuff in a slow cooker it is really runny - loads of thin juice. I hear of you all making loads of nice things like sausage casserole but I just can't seem to get the hang of it!

Do you brown the sausages before putting them in the casserole?

Recovering Spendaholic, yes definately brown sausages before putting into the SC or they look like flaccid penis's. you don't put as much liquid in a SC as you would a casserole as it makes liquid in the cooking process. If it is still a bit thin when you are ready to eat then mix a bit of cornflour with water and stir the paste through the liquid before serving.

There are a couple of SC sausage casserole recipes in the index on page one.

Adding £14.98 for things like frozen veg, vitamins, bananas, onions, spaghetti, cheese, milk, yoghurt, bread, eggs and *ahem* 30p custard creams and 33p scones and non-value chocolate spread. Blah I'm being so bad most days this month :( But I lost a ton of weight and my BMI has gone down to 15.95 so its not too bad to scoff a few biccies here and there :)

Recovering Spendaholic, thats fabulous about your cupcakes, what a compliment! Very exciting, good luck for Tuesday and let us know how it goes! I love the sound of all of them, you should post some pics for us to drool over :)

A NSD for me. Will need to shop for fresh fruit and veg tomorrow, but that should be it.
