Thankyou to those who sent your best wishes to my Grandfather.

Sadly, he passed away on Friday evening. I was priviliged enough to be holding his hand as he slipped away. He was more like a father to me than a Grandfather in my adult years, I miss him terribly already. He was a gentle man who was devoted to his wife and family, served his country and his faith.

Adding £19 to total spend, most of it lazy comfort food :(

I have a confession to make.... I log all my spends on groceries but whenever my other half goes and does one of his 'I fancy a treat so I'm gonna blow a tenner on junk' I don't include it... is that wrong? I don't know everyone's circumstances on this thread so please don't think I'm being flippant but I don't really have a need to have such a tight budget - I do it to test myself and try to keep the extra money in my pocket but it's sooooo frustrating when he goes out and spends a fortune on junk (Magnums, chocs, crisps etc). From now on (now I've confessed) I'm only going to include grocery items he buys that i would have bought if you know what I mean? Well, I know what I mean!

i'm another one who doesn't do this threw need, we could have a very lavish life if we weren't savings for a house, however i don't even want that, i do include hubbys splurges in my budget he's alot better than he used to be when he would go to the filling station a few nights a week, usually he'll only spend a few £, not including last weeks blip, and he'll go to tesco now instead and buy offers, i also include takeaways as for a few months i decided not to and it didn't go well i started buying more as i felt my budget was ok i could but really if i'd been including it i'd have been way over, this challenge keeps me grounded, oh and my hubby loves tesco value pizza with extra cheese and fresh ground pepper, even tho his mum used to only feed him the m&s prepacked ones

tesco order coming today hopefully it will only be £30, i can't beleive how far over i am so early in the month :(

  • Tesco had lots of cereals half price today and we go through alot of those as me, dp and dd eat it everyday so i got a big box of cheerios and a big box of shreddies for 1.36 each. Will go back and buy some more tomorrow as it makes it cheaper than the store versions and it will get eaten so a good buy.

Also 55p on blue milk for the baby's breakfast
  • Oh and tesco own brand nappies for the baby
  • I've not been on this month since I set my budget as I had to go to my duaghter's for a week to look after the DGC (x3) and I've not caught up properly yet.

Am quite pleased though, normally if I'm away DH lives off take-aways and junk food, this time he ate from the freezer, using some single portions of batch cooked meals (when I batch cook I freeze most in 2 people portions and just one or two single portions for if I fancy them for lunch). All thanks to this thread :j

Anyway, I've checked what I've spent since I got back:

    A$da £56.45
    CostC0 £34.32
    Cornershop £15.88
    A!di £15.18
    Sainsbugs £14.36

total = £136.19, leaves us £113.81 till the end of the month (16 days). I do need to do a meat shop in CostC0 which will be about £50 and am intending to get a few christmas bits to spread the cost so should be easily do-able.

Not had chance to catch up on the thread so hugs to all who need them

off to update my sig now

I haven't spent anything all week and I am really chuffed with myself .

I've just done a MrT online shop for this weeks meals and it came to £32.19 with delivery. I have a £5 off voucher so rhe grand total is £27.19 for the week. I am really chuffed with that :D. Though I have a bad feeling I may have forgotten something.

    Off to update my sig.
