In the absence of sausages, and if you're feeling flush you could use mini pieces of roast beef in the yorkie pudding tins - that's really decadant

I'm having roast beef over the christmas holidays so this is duly noted :D

    Morning all

Well now busy enough week with lots of stocking up done. Went to Lidl for DH muesli bought 10 packs (saves running in all the time and spending money) and some sweeties for DD 18th next week. Total £22.50

Called at home bakery and ordered birthday cake etc and paid in advance £29.50 (this is not to be added to grocery challenge as it was saved for in seperate account)

Hit Mr T's and spent £102.52 EEEKKKKK!!! This was a much needed store cupboard shop with bits and bobs for birthday too.

So playing it tight for the next week I think.

I find it so helpful to take this challenge. I also have started writing down a daily spend diary and its certainly opened my eyes recently.

Will get a chance to look back the latest posts throughout the day. Well done everyone and lets keep watching the pennies.

    Take care
    E

Also forgot to add trip to off-licence last evening £8.83. Bottle red, crisps and coke. Not really necessary but required.:)

Could I please ask if someone could guide me on how to make a good red wine sauce.:)

    Thank you

After last nights visit to Mr M my total now stands at a massive £434.35 with 2 full weeks until pay day on the 22nd:eek: My budget was £450 which was a bit silly really as I spent £543 last month in 4 weeks and this is a 5 week month for us. Oh well, I suppose if I spend less than last month for an extra week and taking into consideration the big meat and veggie alternative shop I did at the beginning of the month it will actually be an improvement.;)

I have been ill with cold this week and not up to cooking so have had a takeaway and bought lunch and drinks at work. Plus as DH doesnt do cooking any meals we have had have been snacky stuff mainly so we havent stuck to the meal plan at all. I defrosted DH some steak yesterday but he ended up having sausage sandwiches. I think he thinks the piece of rump is too small:eek:

DH has said he does not what to go shopping on a Friday night anymore because he does not enjoy starting his weekend off in Mr M! He has offered to do our shopping at the big Mr T next door to his work if I give him a list so I am going to try this. It will work if he can avoid sticking some 'offers' on carp in to the trolley on his way round. Keeping me out of the shops just might work though:o

We are stocked up and do not need much but bread, yog and fresh fruit and lunch bits for the next 2 weeks.

At a bonfire and firework display tonight so no doubt DH will want a burger or something while we are there and I will grab a snack when we get back as veggie options will no doubt be limited.

Trying desperately to bake at least 2 of the 5 christmas cakes I need to make as christmas presents this weekend. I am also toying with the idea of making some fudge for presents but I have heard it takes a few attempts to get it right and I dont have the time for that and dont want to waste money on ingredients if it doesn't work.

    Oops sorry for the ramble:o

I have taken out steak to defrost and intend to make a chilli tomorrow. Its only two small packs so I will bulk the chilli out with peppers, carrots and spring onions that I have in my fridge to save waste and to make the chilli go further.

I've been out to the freezer in my garage and found a ready meal veg curry which will do for a meal in the week and I've been reminded that I have lots of veg and bread waiting to be used....

I shall be going to the supermarket shortly. planned to go earlier but hadn't eaten breakfast so decided to delay to stop unnecessary spends.

I feel sad at the news about the accident on the M5. Hugs to all xxxx

    Afternoon all

Am trying to get myself back on track so PLEASE PUT ME DOWN FOR £400 FOR NOV
Did my first shop of my month yesterday at MrA's and MrL's spent £88.82 - this did include money off vouchers etc too - but did get one or two bits that were expensive that are very occasional items needed. Have menu planned for this next week but not included tonight, have lots to do today so will see what time the jobs get done - may finish up having a takeaway but we'll see.

    Keep safe and well everyone,

Just back from the shopping - went to Aldi again to get most things and popped to the greengrocers for a few extra bits and milk.

In total I managed to spend £20.20 so not too bad.

I've decided to do one shop at Mr T's a month to stock up on things like quorn, vegetarian products and things they don't do at Aldi and then use Aldi and the local shops for the 3 other shopping trips for the month. Hopefully it will work out cheaper for me.

Will update the signature in a minute but I think I'm fairly on track for where we are in the month so far.
  • WEnt to Mr T last night at 9pm and got LOADS of reduced stuff - avocados, beetroot, salad, onions all for 8p a pack, croissants and pain au chocolate for 12p, pack of onion bagels for 14p, lots of rolls, pittas and a loaf all for 8p each and then I got three blocks of Cathedral city lighter for 37p a block. Then went round to the cakes and they were just reducing the Tesco finest serves 12 HUGE rhubarb crumble cheesecakes from £5 to 50p so that is now in the freezer for Christmas. Also got a trifle reduced to 22p which I came home and ate three quarters of and made myself feel REALLY sick!!! Got some other basics and meat and total was £27 (but worth loads more) and then I realised that I hadn't got B1G2F on the Branston Beans so they gave me £10.20 back:T I had a £10 clubcard voucher so the whole shop only cost me £7.

I am tempted to go back tonight and see what there is but it is getting to be an obsession and I don't really need anything!!

Don't know what to make for tea tonight - I have meatballs in the fridge which I could do with spaghetti and sauce, but I also have three quarters of a chicken which I can't think what to do with. Was thinking I might make some bbq sauce and then do a big bbq chicken bake - can't decide....

Thank you to everyone on here for all the hints and tips and for introducing me to the world of yellow stickers!!!
