Today's spend has been £29.74 at our local independent wholesaler. This included dry and wet food for the still growing XL dog we own (just over a months worth), some Christmas decorations and 30 cards, chewy sweets for the kids for their afters for a month, some toiletries bubble bath etc and some food items such as 2x 4 tins of john west tuna at £1.50 each.

Dried complete working dog food 15 kg, 24% protein was £6.99 (about 5 weeks worth plus we have around 1 week worth in stock already) 24 cans of working dog meat £7.98 (have 4 in stock) he has 1 tin a day split between two meals. Also has the odd treat of raw chicken portions, meaty chews and lots of fruit and veg.

Totally irrelevant but on the last vets visit (we use a small vet's attached to a working farm, far less discriminatory for larger, supposedly dangerous yet soft as a brush breeds) he weighed in at 4 lbs overweight for his height which i didn't think was too bad. Apparently we could get rid of it in a week if I take him jogging with me, I'm sure he is totally up for it but I can't seem to get my bum in gear, I'm afraid that may have to wait until spring.

Oh, what a fast moving thread - not sure I'll be able to catch up. ANyway, I did a big shop in @ldi for 81.24 and then a few extra bits of 10.60, so a total of 113.24€ so far, which is not too bad given that we'll have enough food to take us through to next wednesday or thursday.

I'll do some baking over the weekend when electricity is cheap and that'll do for snacks during the week.
    Trying to keep in budget.

Update to grocery/food shopping this month:

Had 3 NSD days this week, hooray! That hasn't happened... ever! Today wasn't so good, spent £8.70 on random food for the weekend and £8.25 on a chinese :embarasse

So that brings my total to £39.20 for this week. Still under budget but could be lower!
    Savings target: £25000/£25000

mrs mum, I've added your mini toads in hole idea to the recipe index

If I hadn't already prepared and frozen the pigs in blankets I would have tried this for my christmas dinner, might be tempted anyway :D

In the absence of sausages, and if you're feeling flush you could use mini pieces of roast beef in the yorkie pudding tins - that's really decadant

Spent £1 on coffee at dd2 gym lesson (my weekly treat) + £15.99 on bits for dd1 birthday. Total spend now £93.62, a bit higher than I'd like ( I blame the birthday - wish me luck with the sleepover tonight!).

Hope the sleepover all went ok! We took DD1 & DD2 & 3 of DD1's friends out for dinner (for her Birthday) & then to Disney on Ice. We all had a fab time, but the girls (aged 8,7,7,7 & 5) didn't go to bed til 11:45
& I can hear them stirring now! Not sure how popular I'll be with their mothers!!:rotfl:

Had a little spend yesterday on popcorn & drinks to take last night (ultimately a saving) & some of that 'Stella Cidre' to try to take to a friend's firework party tomorrow but that was all. Am well stocked up & am planning for a quiet NSD today before another busy (but NSD) tomorrow.
