    Why? She said everything she needed she had. I haven't said anywhere to delete backups. I've proactively told her to keep them. You were the one who said they were useless.
  • i already have MSE it was already on my laptop :) thankyou so much for taking the time to help me and getting me the space i needed am very grateful to you and everyone else for their advice :) i will hopefully rememeber this all for the bloody next time my computer clogs up lol :) thankyou once again and if thats all i suppose to do i wish you all goodnight :) x

    they are useless if the hard disk fails completely, therefore not the ideal place, however until a new place had been found ie an external hard disk, they may have been useful if windows fails to boot or a recovery is required.

    hibernation may be useful to the OP, and there is plenty of space for a hibernation file now.

    post 33 suggests wiping d: completely, and formatting.

  • Closed and Lucero it doesnt matter now :) i deleted them and truth be told i didnt have anything i wanted as i saved everything i needed on my usb stick documents, pictures music :) so im happy i got my space :) and that my laptop will now work faster and better i only use this for surfing and facebook anyways :) ONCE AGAIN THANKYOU BOTH FOR YOUR HELP :)

    it's unlikely to work faster, you have too much security software installed for one.

    and usb sticks are just about the worse place to store your only copy of important information.

  • i dont have an extra hard drive i only have a usb sticks or discs.
    so what should i uninstall i have MSE, Avast, malwarebytes

    ok, my apologies

    OP if the data is important, burn a copy to dvd as well, and consider buying an external hard disk, they are reasobably priced nowadays

    Personally I'd uninstall and delete MSE. Keep MBAM. I would deffo uninstall avast, delete the folder if it isn't done as part of the uninstall process, and download a fresh avast and leave the default settings - this should stop it creating all those log files....
