Hey my lap top keep coming up with a notice saying low disk space on win 7 (c) 13.7mb free of 63.9gb and Data (D) 4.04 mb free of 64.9 gb
I have no idea as im not very technical of how to reduce or remove whatever it is that is taking so much space i have deleted music moved pictures on to usb and still no luck have also done defragment disk clean up and to be quite honest further then that i have no idea what else to do
when i click on the C drive to see what is in there there is a load of files that i have no idea what they are?
D drive shows me 3 folders media.ID bin - BIN FILE - 1kb
windowsimagebackup - file Folder
samsung519-pc - file folder
im doing the 12 step programme to see if that helps or am i wasting my time doing that? can anyone advise me please
thankingyou all kindly in advance :A

That's a massive amount of diskspace you are using if you're just a home user. What Programs do you have isntalled that you could possibly get rid of? Problem is, Windows can't and won't update if it doesn't have the diskspace to do it.
Can you do me a favour. Download (save) to
or somewhere you have space, this application:
http://www.jam-software.com/freeware/
Tree Size free (the .exe). Run it, and scan your C: drive. If you can, upload an image of the results, or just note down the space used and in what folders. You might have something glaringly obvious that can be moved.0 -
am doing the scan as soon as it finishes will post results up
i'm also doing malwarebytes as im still doing the 12 steps guide or should i stop that? :happylove0 -
You can leave it running but it won't be the cause of low disk space. It might find somethings that are hindering the system elsewhere though.0

Ok, how many users do you have on your PC? That is showing as 14Gb of data (desktop, documents, pictures, music). That's pretty massive, espectially if, as you say, you've already moved stuff. If you "drill down" that folder structure in TreeSize it will tell you where / what is using that space.
I can't understand why Program Data is so large, it's basically a cache store for all your actual programs. It shouldn't be more than 1-3GB tops. Yours is 28Gb. Your windows folder is bang on (at around 17Gb).
Can you drill down for your Program Data folder too for me?
If you want to take a screen shot. Click on Start and type "snipping". use the tool to drag around the image, save it, then upload it to http://imgur.com/:
Once uploaded, post the picture here if you can

Ok, the user "Parent" still has 2Gbs worth of documents in their workspace and almost 3GB of music. That can be moved (or backed up) for a start. Do you have a C: and a
?
Also, I'm still trying to work out why Program Data is so large. Can you expand that for me too?
popping out now, will be back near on 10pmRasberry_Diva wrote: »hope this is ok god knows what i was doing!!! i deleted all the pictures and movies out the files and its now in recycling should i empty the recycle bin?
Only if you are happy for it to be gone. The recycle bin resides on C: too so you've just moved the problem. If you are sure, empty the recycly bin and you will reclaim that diskspace.
One other question, do you ever use the "hibernate" function on your laptop?0 -

Avast Software folder is showing as 26-odd GB !!!! That ain't right..can you expand that folder and post another screenshot please ??......Gettin' There, Wherever There is......
I have a dodgy "i" key, so ignore spelling errors due to "i" issues, ...I blame Apple
