D - 5 x pair of tickets to a round heeled woman (top price tickets) includes complimentary drinks and a signed poster, 10 runners up will win signed copies of the book.[/QUOTE]
Thanks for highlighting that i was trying to find it - Its exactly the point i was trying to make - i did not enter this prize at all it is not what interests me !! They seem to have entered it for me and given me a runner up prize. Strange !!0 -
It's these sort of 'little' prizes, like books, that keep me going - they are a lovely surprise and if I don't like the particular book, it's a good bet that I can use it as a Christmas/birthday pressie for someone who will!
Working hard in the hopes of being 'lucky'

i would just be grateful that i had won anything....you could give it to a charity shop or to someone else as a present but you really shouldn't complain about being given a prize....0

If you go from Captain Sensible to being Captain:mad:(angryface) when you win a book maybe comping isn't for you. I'd love to win a book. Even if it's not my sort of book I think of someone who might like it or donate it to the community project I work for so someone can borrow it from our book shelf.Since starting again after beanie: June 2016: Child development DVDs, Massive Attack tickets. July: Aberystwyth trip, hotmilk nightie. Aug: £10 Hipp Organic vouchers, powerpack. September: Sunglasses. October: £30 poundland vouchers.0

I can't think who posts Take a Break, but they always state what the prizes are. I know i don't enter all the Take a Break comps as some of the prizes aren't of any interest to me, but i'm extremely grateful to those who take their time out to buy the magazine and post the comps.
Always read what comps you are entering for.
Quite right. I definitely did not enter this competition as it does not interest me. They have entered it for me and given me a prize - that was kind of the point . It will be going to the charity shop as you suggest i visit there regularly. The comment about doorstop was supposed to be funny !! And yes i do appreciate the people who post i think they do a fantastic job !!0 -
If you're sure that you didn't enter and you really don't want it then I'd complain to the magazine. They're wasting your time and losing the goodwill of the people who did enter.0

I'd be careful who you gift this book to - I hear it's rather................ 'saucy'! LOLBut there are dreams that cannot be,and there are storms we cannot weather!0

Maybe you entered the competition by accident, if it was one of the tick boxes one? It's easy to tick the wrong one when you're not concentrating.
A prize is still a prize at the end of the day. If you can't find a use for the book then donate it to charity or gift it to someone? There's also a Friendly Competitions Swaps group on Facebook.2019 Wins

In all fairness to the OP, real people magazine were doing this some time ago - sending out prizes to people who hadn't entered for that particular prize. When a comper (on another site) phoned to tell them that she had NOT entered for that particular prize as she had no need for it, she was told to be grateful that she'd won at all :cool:SECRET TO WINNING PRIZES
