Take the 20m wander/waddle and talk to the receptionist?

From OPs post she has already tried that :(

sounds a way to rip people off for an essential service what happens if it was a real emergency

In an emergency, one should be attending the Accident & Emergency department of their local hospital. Moot.
    "What day is it?"
    "It's today," squeaked Piglet.
    "My favorite day," said Pooh."

Yep. He saw me getting dressed, grabbed his giraffe, hopped into his chair and dozed off while I was putting my shoes on. Cheeky sausage.

Giraffe? Not that French thing Sophie. Bad influence I suspect.
  • have just had an email back from my PCT Pals service which was party line politics so I called them.
After an extensive conversation and me getting quite cross that they have failed to take into account everyone's circumstances and these 0844 numbers are effectively resulting in a non equal service to all, she has taken note and is going to ask for more info from our PCT. She has now taken on board the issue of the cost of calling from a mobile and says she will investigate the options and come back to me.
Her take on it is that the OP is being unreasonably disadvantaged.
    We'll see.
    Will come back later!

Ooh, no. Really not a fan of those. It's one of these

His name is Mr. Geoffrey Raffe, and it was the first thing we ever bought for him. One chew on his ears and my son's out for the count :)

I nipped into my GP's surgery on the way to the hospital today, and asked about whether they had an 0121 number. I was told no.
After my son's born this weekend, I'll be writing a letter of complaint to the surgery, including this as one of the many ways they've failed miserably during this pregnancy.
After spending my last £3 credit yesterday just to be cut off as "call volumes are high", I think something needs to be done. God forbid someone who actually needed seeing by a dr has the same issues, it's poo!

i have an app on my phone that converts 0844 numbers to landline numbers i could try that if you give the full number? x
  • My gp surgery is similiar but you can book at the reception, where your greeted by some sour faced old lady that treats you like you bore her to tears. Had called the gp to make the appt since I live pretty far away, and said the nurse would phone me back, poor reception meant I missed the call so I phoned them back to explain, they said wait untill she calls again (an 1hr in between each of her calls), during this time I decided to go to the gp surgery instead since I was confused as to why they hadn't phoned back, upon traveling there I missed another call and I went inside the surgery to explain I was just traveling there. I asked if the nurse could just pass on the message to me there or to the receptionist (since she was next door) and was told to go away and wait for my call. When I finally got my call after another hour and 30mins I was told I didn't need an appt and she would leave the prescription at the desk. Dont see why the receptionist couldn't just tell me this herself and give me the prescription.

I sympathise though - after all, that's what this board is for, for people to let off steam and for us to come say poor you and that sucks. I went to the Job center once a year or so ago to see what current wages were like in the town I live in (I work in a city so the wages are higher) thinking I might get a job closer to home, only to find that they don't actually have jobs on boards in the Job Center any more, I asked the lady, she said I have to phone up and ask them what jobs they have but I could use her phone....what? why aren't they on little bits of card on a board like they were 20odd years ago when I last went hunting?

Be thankful you got in! I remember going a couple of years ago to look for a job, only to be told that I couldn't get in because I already had a job.
