Gaddafi shouldn't have been summarily executed, if that's what happened, as even he deserved a fair trial and the presumption of innocence. However, if I'd sat for decades waiting for the knock at my door that meant I'd be dragged off for criticising the Government on a bulletin board and I had the gun in my hand then I suspect I would have done exactly the same thing.

It wouldn't have been the right thing to do but I think it's what I'd have done and what I think most of us would have done if we're being honest.

As a banker I don't mind people slagging off financiers, I've been doing it ever since I worked out what went on in The City and I'm a banker myself.

I can't help but feel that as time goes on criticisms of bankers are taking on a slightly more overt anti-Semitic tone which I find very unnerving even though I have nothing to lose from it personally (I guess I still count as a gentile despite liking Woody Allen films and Giles Coren's restaurant reviews).

I feared the same. I would just like him to say it openly rather than hiding behind the 'money lender' phrase that he seems to like so much. I hate this sort of stuff when it crops up on MSE from time to time, it makes me feel dirty by association.
