Whilst I totally sympathize with your disability I still say the car changes have not gone far enough the changes are needed as I read somewhere there are 11000 luxury cars out on lease and why should the taxpayer be paying for £30000-£35000 cars there are 1476 available cars at the moment people can lease and there are plenty of cars available under £15000 on the market that can keep people mobile which is what the scheme provides cars for.

The scheme does provide WAV if needed

Are you aware that the wav drive from wheelchair would be aprox 40 grand?

As far as I know the Tax Payer does not pay for £30k cars. The DLA payment makes up part of the cost. The 30k car is obtained when the person adds THEIR OWN MONEY to top up and enable them to get the £30k car. The 30k car costs the taxpayer no more than the £15k car or less.

IF I HAD TO LIFT A WHEELCHAIR ACROSS THE CAR AS YOU ARE SAYING i would get a WAV vehicle and the changes to the scheme would not be applying to me anyway
What if you cant afford the AP for a WAV or just don't want to drive a huge van? I can understand them removing the option of high spec cars to try & stop the scammers but why a blanket ban on anything above £2000 which removes the option of larger MPVs for those who just don't want a WAV? That's just targetting the genuine customers because scammers wouldn't want large MPVs, surely?

motability is a brilliant scheme, my mum would be lost without it, she needed a car with no clutch and it allowed her to have one, my father in law to be has one too, and it helps him loads as well. to be fair if you need a wav and they are willing to pay then get it, thats what the scheme is for

Yes it was I hope these changes are looked at on a individual basis of need as they say it should so it will be able to continue to provide a service to all who need it

    Spot on ! Spot on!
  • I would also argue that the taxpayer seems unwilling to help fund my car but seem willing to fund people's multiple kids through child benefit. Why should the taxpayer (yes I am one because I work) fund any kids let alone more than one?

But the whole point of the scheme is to keep you mobile and provide a car /WAV that suits your NEEDS not to provide you with a car you WANT
and as been said grants are there for WAV

order a £15000 car Garage gets £15000 from scheme holders

order a £30000 car £8000 or however much AP from customer leaves £22000 to be paid from scheme holders £7000 more needs to be paid for the car from somewhere else which I believe will be the taxpayer funded scheme .

No no no no no the money is clawed back at the resale after 3 years just ask motability Monday morning this is how some cars that cost more retail have less ap than some cheaper ones, also servicing costs and ins costs are taken into consideration , it's just not as simple as your equation
