Now, I am not grouping all diabetics together, but when I compare my wife who takes real care and which has resulted in her metphormin (sorry if spelt incorrectly) being lowered and my friend, his resulting condition is self inflicted.
He has gone down the DLA route, but that's after talking to me and asking me what I get. Personally believe he should be turned down because it is self inflicted.
Like others have said on here. Disabilities are all different. I too believe all DLA applications should be re-evaluated as some people have got better since their award and have not told the DWP and some conditions should not be awarded HRC and HRM as progress in medication or aids. At the same point and I know its wishful thinking that money saved could be spent on those left.
I agree with what you say.
It's no different than these that drink and take drugs, get themselves addicted and claim all manner of benefits. Yet those of us that look after ourselves the best way that we can, end up having to pay for the scumbags!0 -
My neighbour just got his new mobility car... a mercedes c class. I wouldnt neccessarily care about that in itself as he is fully allowed to drive what he wants however my dad and brother work at ford and told me he has a whole page of extras... AMG sports package, AMG styling kit bla bla bla
Why dont Motability question the need for these extras? Im sorry but it should just be a basic car to transport a disabled person from A to B, my car was motability in 2006, I had a standard focus to transport my son in which I have since bought from them. The system is an absolute godsend but theres no need to abuse it, I know some people who work every hour god gives and couldnt even afford the car my son has and resent me for that which I can appreciate, but theres even less people in the world who could afford a brand new merc with every luxury as extra0 -

well if he had all the extras ontop of a merc c class then he must of made a massive advance payment from HIS OWN BANK ACCOUNT !!!!!!KEEP YOUR NOSE OUT !SIMPLE ! he will never get that a/p back and the total cost to the scheme is the same as your focus !!!!!!! the dla high rate mobility part ....if you dont understand the system dont comment !
Quite right. If I chose a car with extras it will have a higher AP. the cash for the AP comes from MY bank account, from MY savings. It's sad there are people on here who are not able to control their jealousy and will not be satisfied until the disabled are driving around in a plastic pig! Do they want us "layabouts" to [STRIKE]walk[/STRIKE] WHEEL around with a bell around our necks too? And I am sorry, but just because someone lets themselves go, they are NOT SCUMBAGS!!! People who misuse blue badges are SCUMBAGS who need it taking off them.0 -

As that seems to implicate me in some way, what or who are those two other people and how or why do you think they are connected to me?
Have you a mental blockage or something? Or maybe a persecution complex!0 -
Having just read through this thread it seems to me there is a major issue with jealousy - however, please take our 7 seater Grand Picasso (£800 AD paid for by my mom) which enables my husband to come on holiday with the rest of his family or watch his kids play football at the weekend and swap it for fully functional legs and hips, oh and while youre at it, take his mental health condition which means public transport is a major problem for him. Any takers? No, thought not.
Im sure I speak for many on here when I say I wish to God my husband could be out there earning again, feeling like a worthwhile member of society and not having to rely on benefits to pay for the basics of family life that most take for granted. But life isnt like that, its total crap for many of us yet still people who can get in any car, drive anywhere for any length of time and still complete any task at the end of that drive are jealous because we put our allowance towards a better car than they have. Words fail meI don't know if I'm getting better or just used to the pain.
Bipolar for all0 -
You are so right. Please swap all the problems that I have and are building as time goes by for the car, take it away, please I don't mind. I could earn 15+ times in fulltime employment that I get in benefits, but could not even manage being self employed any longer.
It is Wednesday morning. So far this week I have spent a total of 9 hours in hospital with another 3-5 later in the week to follow. I will not be able to get their without my Mobility car as my other one is broke. This also means I cannot drive it's a manual and no longer is fit for purpose. When I get to change it in May I will have to fund an automatic, so more money to find.
Those calling us malingerers, lay-abouts, scroungers and all the other things, I suggest you stop and take a look at society. As the national lottery people say, "it could be you!". What if it was you or someone you care for. Would you financially support them? Try reading what motivated Aneurin Bevan, see what went before, would you like you or yours to live and be treated as we treated our forefathers pre 1948?0 -
The mangler. .. .. succinct and to the point .. .. 7 little words [ feeling like a worthwhile member of society ] says it all really - thank you The manglerDisclaimer : Everything I write on this forum is my opinion. I would love a brand new 7 seater galaxy thats in my mums name even though she has never been in it, Never
mind actually driven it.
What does she drive, Her sons not so new Citroen C1, Which he only drove once when picking it up.
Probably helps they live next door to each other with a shared drive.
Or get a brand new midrange ford or vauxhall for her son with learning difficulties who gets taken
everywhere in the school's minibus, And only spends 2 nights a week at home.
Shame he was a nice lad and they used him for the money. rarely actually took him with them.
Probably much worse cases going on but as usual the people who abuse the system the most will probably
still be doing it after the changes.
Jealous? Probably... I wouldn't say no to a nice new car i could park by ear or touch and not have to worry about
next years insurance bill.
I have my MIL's Blue Badge, Used it ONCE!! We took them away earlier this year and used it once to park near the
cafe where we were eating.
I had to keep looking out the window expecting to get a ticket or be towed away. Much rather pay a couple of £ in the
carpark and push her down in the chair.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0
