Hi all and thanks for your advice on here.
Just got back from my interview and thought I would report back although it is obviously following a similar pattern for everyone
Started with an interview with the store manager and assistant manager. Asked about previous job experience and general "get to know you" then on to some competency based questions which for me where
Can you think of a time when you have sold additional products to a existing customer
Can you think of a team you have worked with that were particularly effective and what do you think made them effective
Can you describe a time when you were struggling with a problem and how you solved it
Can you give examples of where you have shown exceptional service to a customer over and above the expected
Have you ever raved to a friend about a product and convinced them to buy it and if so how
It was very relaxed as the manager did confess he had not done this format before so would I bear with him lol.
After that it was half an hour on the floor which involved:
Questions on how you would approach a teenager who says their hair has lost the gloss and how to bring that back - what would you recommend and why, how you would approach customer who is looking lost in the pharmacy section.
following that on to my chosen product (pain killers
......due to previous experience selling them) how I would sell my chosen product and what questions I would ask.
Next was a bit nerve racking - had to approach 4 different customers to offer assistance. I think they were looking for you to be friendly and not just the standard "can I help you" She gave me some hand cream but I did not need to use this as nobody was around that section.
Finally I was taken to to the 3 for 2 section and asked to improve one of the aisles in the way it looks and what I would do differently. I was lucky as there were lots of empty spaces so I moved things around and suggested maybe a stock order
They said they were interviewing 30 people but wouldn't say for how many positions.
So that was it and now I wait
Sorry for the long post but hope its some use to someone and good luck everyone going for it 0 -
I just reapplied answering to customer focus.....oh well will be receiving another decline email again!!0

Primark questions for a shop work (and the same for cashier role) are like this:
Question 13 *
On a shelf in a store there are five different items on it. The book is on the right of the mug and the pen is on the right of the book. The magazine is on the left of the mug and the bottle is on the left of the pen. Which item is in the middle?
So the shelf goes: Magazine - Mug - Book - Pen. The bottle could be anywhere to the left of the pen, so how can you answer the question correctly?I consider myself to be a male feminist. Is that allowed?0 -
Just to post an update:
I didn't get the Boots job but shortly after the declining e-mail, I applied to Wilkinsons after they posted a sign in their window ( I actually saw them put it up, ran home and printed my C.V and handed it in half an hour later!).
I had my interview on Tuesday and got a call offering me the job on Wednesday. I start on Monday.
Keep on going everyone, you'll get there
