Boots Christmas Job

Comments

  • I have just got a job with boots (for the 2nd time, although the first time was 8 yrs ago and no online test!). My sister has failed the assessment twice (shes a straight A student doing a law degree, so dont take it too personally!). After this stage they will send you an email if you have been successful asking you to book an interview slot online. They then email a confirmation of the interview slot.

Once I had been for interview it took them 2 days to call me to advise they needed a copy of my passport for HO to see I was able to work in the UK ( yes even if you are from here they want proof lol). I am now waiting on them sending me a contract and the store manager advised she would call me on monday to let me know my start date :D

So thats the process - good luck!!!

That's brilliant, It was just the information I was looking for! Do you know if they keep Christmas staff on after Christmas? As in making them permanent or is it literally just for Christmas? I'll not die if they don't, but it would be nice ;)

Congratulations on getting the job too!

Primark uses the same system? No wonder people have such a hard time getting a job!

To be honest though, I'm not sure I'd want to work at Primark, the poor staff there get taken the mickey out of them by customers and the most of the stock ends up on the floor by the end of the day for the staff to have to put back. No staff discount could be worth that!

A LOT of places use profiling to select staff. I worked for a very high profile hotel in London and recently had to leave for a while for personal reasons (I needed to move back to N.Ire - so couldn't keep the job sadly). I know they and all of their company also use personality tests before interview. In fact - I know they have agency staff who work for them full time but cannot get a salaried permenant job because their english isnt good enough to pass the personality test

In the case of this hotel though, the staff are utterly fantastic! They interviewed I think it was 26,000 before their reopening to hire about 500 members of staff but I guess that shows even passing the personality test doesnt guarentee you the job doh!

My role isn't as Christmas staff so i cant answer this one really. I dont even remember from when I worked for them before if they ever kept temps long term. However, even if they dont have a role to keep you - watch for a permentant job in the future because already having experience would be a great asset :j

It wasn't for a job on the shop floor but a job as a cashier in the back office

I've only just completed the second stage this evening and I haven't received any e-mail to tell me they've received my answers, only a short message on the application screen telling me that it was complete and they'd be in touch.

Thanks actually that is helpful because I did expect to get an automated reply, but if you didn’t receive one then they probably don’t send them. I’m not paranoid any more that I didn’t click the wrong box. I will let you know if I hear anything:T

I felt like that a bit too but like LilMissEmmyLou said, they'll let us know through an e-mail if we make it. I'll keep you updated on progress (or not!) as soon as I know :)

Primark questions for a shop work (and the same for cashier role) are like this:

    Question 13 *
On a shelf in a store there are five different items on it. The book is on the right of the mug and the pen is on the right of the book. The magazine is on the left of the mug and the bottle is on the left of the pen. Which item is in the middle?

    Question 11 *

If one pair of shorts costs £3.95, how much would 4 pairs cost?

    * £15.75
    £15.70
    £15.72
    £15.80
    £15.77

I have to admit, the first one I actually had to think about a bit but the second one was fairly easy. It seems a bit silly though to ask those questions of someone who won't even be working on the shop floor
