    I've been Money Tipped!
My son applied and also did the online test and he answered al the questions based on customer service not decision making. 2 days later he got an email turning him down :(

He has had a 2.5 hour interview for Game tonight though. Fingers X-ed!!!

I have to admit, the first one I actually had to think about a bit but the second one was fairly easy. It seems a bit silly though to ask those questions of someone who won't even be working on the shop floor

but there are better ones asking what you would do if a customer asked if you a certain item in a certain size and it wasn't on the shop floor. Since my first job (1987) was working for the House of Fraser group I asnwered as per my experience. That was obviously the wrong answer as I didnt get through.

That's brilliant, It was just the information I was looking for! Do you know if they keep Christmas staff on after Christmas? As in making them permanent or is it literally just for Christmas? I'll not die if they don't, but it would be nice ;)

Congratulations on getting the job too!

    :D

At the interview, after the usual "tell me about your previous employment" stuff, I was given a few tasks to complete: approach customers & offer them a basket, ask customers if they have an Advantage card & offer them one, asked about a display, then a short time helping to bag at the till & finally find the cheapest pain killer on the display.
Interviewer was friendly and fairly informal.

It was mentioned ( can't remember if I asked or not :o ) that there is a possibility of Christmas staff being kept on if there is a position available.

I had very little retail experience but got the job.

    Good luck to all applying!
  • I have managed to secure a temporary job at Boots over Christmas. The process was exactly as mentioned before, on-line application, personality testing and then an interview (although the tasks I had to do were slightly different to the ones fantasticfive had to complete).

I had to attend an induction and the person taking the induction was asked if Christmas Staff were ever kept on, she said normally some were but she couldn't guarantee it this year due to budget cuts. They have also cut the amount of seasonal staff they are taking on this year and reduced the length of contracts i.e. my contract should have started 2 weeks ago but due to budget cuts I don't start while 1st November.

I wouldn't worry too much about the personality testing I have never worked in Retail before I just put down what I would expect to happen as the customer and managed to get through it.

    Good luck
  • I applied for 2 positions on Thursday I had a reply Friday morning telling me that I was unsuccesful for one and in the evening I had another one asking me to do an online assessment for the other one. I did this Saturday afternoon it took me over 35 mins though. I was hoping to hear either way soon too.

Good Luck to everyone that has applied. Hope you get it.

Can I ask how long after your online assessment you waited for a response back?

    Thank you

Primark uses the same system? No wonder people have such a hard time getting a job!

To be honest though, I'm not sure I'd want to work at Primark, the poor staff there get taken the mickey out of them by customers and the most of the stock ends up on the floor by the end of the day for the staff to have to put back. No staff discount could be worth that!

    Just to clarify

    NO STAFF DISCOUNT

    at all

  • Hi I applied for a job with Boots last week online, day after completed their assessment and then the day after that I got asked to book an interview slot (my interviews tomorrow!)
Some of the questions on the assesment are a bit obvious, but I completed online assessments for H Samuels and Asda and theirs were worse!! H Samuels assessments consist of questions with a range of answers, that you have to grade as counter productive, somewhat productive, etc!
