LOL! Its not unusual when shopping at my local Aldi to find someone in adsa or tresco uniform scurrying around the store doing a weekly 'shop'. they usually look a bit sheepish - but willingly tell you that its either cheaper or they wouldn't touch 'thier' stores version with a bargepole!

that would be me then! :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
  • Thank you all. We did our shop there last week and saved a fortune. A family of 5 fed on £50!

    Hi
Did my first walk around at Aldi today as I have never been before.
I bought quite a few things that I knew were cheaper than anywhere else, just have to try them now, will keep you posted on my opinions.

    4 pts semi milk 1.00
    Maris piper pots 1. 29 2.5kgs
    Cauliflower 59
    Cranberry sauce 59 ( Bramwells)
    Peanut butter 99 340.grm (Grandessa)
    Rich roast Coffee 1.45 200grm
2 Hovis soft white loaves @99p
Rich tea biscuits 22 ( Belmont)
    Beetroot pack 45

I would be interested to know what regular Aldi shoppers recommend I should try, especially in the meat/deli dept.

Just read all through this thread so got some good ideas on what to try next. The coffee I have just tried, not as strong as Nescafe but hell of a lot cheaper so will buy it again, the cauliflower is pristine white and beautiful.:j

I've never had any problems with their fruit and veg. In fact their veg is better than Asda's in my opinion. Their corned beef is lovely where Asda taste like rubber. My DH loves their cheese's. I don't do all my shopping in Aldi but i do most of it there

do most of my shopping in aldi, fruit, veg cold meat and cheeses are excellent, dont buy fresh meat but do enjoy there frozen three bird roast, bought a four bird roast for family meal tomorrow, sure it will be great
buy eggs from local farmer and meat and washing powder toilet roll in bulk from costco
  • Their sandwich meats are nice, so my children tell me. Their fresh chicken is good quality and a large one is only £3.85 now!!!

Fresh fruit and veg is excellent quality.

I would say much better than Asda and I was always an Asda shopper.

We spent £58 yesterday for a weeks shopping. Meal planning is the way forward!

We used to go to ALDI every week, but now do a mixture of Morrisons, Lidl and Farmfoods and occasionally still go to ALDI.I found the prices increased quite a bit a few years ago, but still love their fruit, veg and flowers:D

My son and his family do most of their shopping at Aldi. I was amazed at how much they get for their money and what good quality too.
I wish I had one near me as I would be a willing convert
