it's interesting reading your comments. I shopped in Aldi back in August and bought a great cherry blossom hand lotion -Smith & Jones brand I think.. I went back the other day to buy more but couldn't find it.. I'm so disappointed as it was great quality and extremely cheap.. I have been looking around for this particular brand to see if there is anything else in the range.. Let me know if you come across their products especially the hand lotion as I ran out!

Might have been a special which may explain why you cant find it anymore.

lst year I picked up some perfume called 'Flowery Red' by Anna Biondi - it smells very very similar to Bal A Versailles - which is this extremely expensive perfume my mum favours. she was thrilled! B A V is at least £35 for a small Eau de Cologne - this was a largeish bottle. unfortunately it hasnt been back since - was supposed to be a couple a months ago - but I either got to the store too late or they didnt have it in! it was less than a fiver!!!!

You have to stock up on special offers with Aldi - they may NEVER come round again!

I do most of my weekly shop at aldi now, previously a tesco and sainsbury's shopper in the main.
I have found 8am on a saturday the best time, I can whip round in 15mins and be having breakfast at 8.30am.

I still have to go to sainsbury for cat food, and love their basics tea bags. Slowly weaning my cat on to aldi cat food however so may reduce my trips to sainsburys to once a month.

Not sure if it's already been mentioned but the Lidl facial moisturiser is fantastic, I wont touch any others now. I used to spend anything from £4 - £7 on a pot but the Lidl one is under £2!!

We do some of our shopping there and stock up on tinned toms for the month, the price of them in the supermarkets is just crazy!! The chorizo is also fantastic!

  • Not only do I go shopping in Aldi on a weekly basis, I also go to the local ethnic shops such as Pak Stores, Sharifs & Sons (both in Derby) as their fruit and veg is so good and unbelievably cheap. For example on Friday i managed to get the following:

24 small green chillis for 14p
4 bunches of coriander for 99p
    7 lemons for a quid
indian small red onions 12 for a quid
    24 carrots for 1.50
coconut milk for 69p or two for a quid
    6 peppers for a quid
6 Pink Lady apples for a quid
    4 bananas for 50p
a sack of potatoes (12.5kg for 2 quid

My wife was so amazed at how good and fresh they all was, I chopped up the coriander and put it into the freezer to be used when i need it. I'm also on a wellbeing healthy eating regime and need to eat as many vegetables and a friend recommended these shops.

As for Aldi, I find the frozen section quite good value especially the fish (fish fillets and fingers) and also think the bread is good value. I've even been buying their own toiletries such as the shower gel and shampoo without any problems and saving over half the price of Asda or Tesco. The only gripe I have is no baskets, however I use a large Ikea bag and have no problems this way. The staff are well friendly and having three kids, nothing is too much trouble, even to the point in allowing my children to use their toilets which isn't for public use.

My wife didn't even notice the changes I made in the grocery shopping, even complimented me on the fish fillets which was much better that the previous ones (which I brought from Adsa)

Even Aldi's washing up liquid is half the price of Fairy and yet lastes lots longer.

Can i add about the cost of fruit and veg in Aldi. Last week I brought Braeburn apples, 6 for 69p. The same day my friend did her shopping in Mr T's 6 Braeburn apples £1.85. What a bloody rip off.

    What is Mr T's?

Please could you write the name of this facial moisturiser?

Mr T is T E S C O - we try to avoid using the names of the big four - summat about people googling them and landing on MSE - especially those posts slamming them! MSEers try to avoid lawsuits if they can.
    Sainsbobs is S A I N S B U R Y
    ADSA is - guesss ????????? A S D A
Its ok to use their name if you are praising them - just dont if you are dissing them!
