...and you can cut your shop time down by about 50% i reckon :)

I get 90% of my shop there and the rest from Morrisons.

definitely as theres hardly anyone to slow you down in terms of other customers or buggies blocking the aisles

Thats what i like about aldi and lidl they never get rammed like the big 4 do, you rarely get people in your way when shopping and you can take your time looking.
You should try visiting my local Aldi. You literally have to fight your way through to the fridge section. It's not for the faint-hearted :rotfl:
Thanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small

You are welcome to those, I hate white chocolate mixed with fruit with a passion, even worse in a cookie format! :p

How do Aldi (or Lidl) prices compare to the prices of Supermarkets value ranges ???

I get their twice weekly emails and see some fab Sat grocery deals.

I prefer to shop in one go.

I suppose it's getting use to a new concept/mysterious brands in some cases.

I have been put off by ginormous queues before where people have trollies Up to the ceiling !!!!

I might dip my toe one day.

Prices compare pretty evenly to the value or own brand ranges but the quality particularly compared to the value ranges is what swings it for me. Aldi's beans are great and it's a pretty full tin. Their household cleaning stuff is great and their shower gel (49p) is really nice, especially the lavendar one. :) I've always found the veg to last pretty well and the super 6 usually has something you can use. Their cereals, bakery etc are good.

The secret is to shop around and get what suits you at the right price. I have to say we're buying pasta and rice at Asda as the Smartprice stuff is cheaper. Milk and bread is also bought at Asda, purely as there is a new store really close to home and I can go up between 7-8pm and get reductions. The staff there are lovely too. I've just sat and worked out that bread and milk for the last month has cost about £5-6! I've had their 6 pint of semi skimmed milk for 30p a carton last week (x3) and 37p this week (x3), Hovis Best of Both 20p and some nice rolls for 20p too. Hubby is currently munching mini chocolate dougnuts reduced to 5p for a box!
  • I used to do a fairly big weekly shop in Aldi when I had a car but I now tend to do internet shopping with either Asda or Tesco and go to Mozzers and Aldi when my husband can take me. If you're the type of person that likes to cook from scratch Aldi should suit you very well. They have a good selection of items but if you wanted something like coconut milk you would have to shop elsewhere.
  • it's interesting reading your comments. I shopped in Aldi back in August and bought a great cherry blossom hand lotion -Smith & Jones brand I think.. I went back the other day to buy more but couldn't find it.. I'm so disappointed as it was great quality and extremely cheap.. I have been looking around for this particular brand to see if there is anything else in the range.. Let me know if you come across their products especially the hand lotion as I ran out!

Can i add about the cost of fruit and veg in Aldi. Last week I brought Braeburn apples, 6 for 69p. The same day my friend did her shopping in Mr T's 6 Braeburn apples £1.85. What a bloody rip off.

Just got 8 cans of Taurus cider for £3.99 & a bottle of Advocatt for £5.49. Roll on Christmas!

Also, their premium fruit muesli is the best I've tasted.

Apparently they also have manuka honey for £4...but I didnt look for it.
