You weren't the only one either!
But silly me - I thought that LadyMissA must have something to do with accountancy since she always goes on about the (allegedely)millions of £'s she used to deal with and the )alleged)frauds she uncovered. I presume she means that someone else managed all this and she was "there too". Going back to my earlier point - she obviously isn;t qualified (enough) despite her (alleged) experience. Maybe that is why they wanted a days trial? And she said that qualifications don't matter. Obviously, they do.0

I think £50k is a great salary. I'd be rich if I was on that
What I've found is that whatever you earn, it never seems like much compared to the next person up the ladder. So I guess everybody except bill gates feels the way you do about salary £x, it's just human nature.
Whether a salary makes you rich or not is another matter though, £50k for a single person in London doesn't buy you a great lifestyle, but a childless couple up north on £20k each can live very comfortably. If you have children you also need to earn a lot more to have a comfortable lifestyle.0

Yes £50K is not all that uncommon. Certainly for a single income family, it isnt a lot, as they wont then be getting all the benefits that top up the lower paidl.
As for accountants and hotel industry, I am senior in that industry and it is my experience that the majority of persons working in the accounts department are NOT in any way qualified, including Financial Controllers who I have known to earn £45-50K anyway, without one stitch of a professional qualification, and in the most extreme cases, an inability to operate Excel to an advanced level never mind do anything complicated and strategic in finance.
So for those who process invoices etc, they will be paid as administrators, not financial professionals, and most of the roles in the industry fall this way0

One of the reasons networking is so important as you become more experienced, a cv backed up by people you have worked with before at a company get you in the door and into jobs at higher wages than a cv and interview alone.
Recruiting is a very expensive business and takes a lot of time off people that have better things to do so you don't draw it out unless you have to.
That trial would have been for the best candidate to eliminate a niggling doubt they could not put their finger on and a chance to prove oneself. just believing you should not need to do it and actually not doing it proved them right.0

No, I was not just 'there too' - you see I was doing the payment runs whilst the supervisor was working out how to steal the money.
Oh no sorry it wasn't millions I was paying I meant to say the company payment run was £10 a month. If you want to have a dig at me PM me ok instead of put it all on here.0

recruiting cost them an advert on the net and no I wasn't the best candidate at all. But how do you all know I haven't had further talks with the company and or got the job? You don't.0
