My Mum always made mine too long, so they used to swing around everywhere and be annoying. Didn't take me long to work out how to get rid of them.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

I can remember have mittens attached to elastic and I hated them. Mind I think my mum tried to make me wear them like that till I was about 10! I still grumble to her about it 30 odd years later and would never let her put elastic on my girls' gloves when they were little.0

bobble_hat wrote: »Excellent thread. Like another post I had a coat for DD last year with gloves with tape and a button on to attach inside the coat sleeve. These could be easily made at home with some bias binding and buttons, then the child had the option of easy removal if being laughed at.
And excellent post Bobble hat, what a fantastic idea, i'll defo be pinching that one in the elastic one fails. Thanks!!!0 -

I'm hoping I am just lucky and I haven't scared them into not losing stuff!0 -
Wow ..thank you for all the posts - have several good ideas of it if the school don't like elastic through coats ( thinking H&S restrictions )
I too had them when I was younger so to me it was a normal thing until DH made me query it :rotfl:
I have shown him this thread0 -

I also tracked down leather reins. very unfashionable, a wrist strap (like a dog on a leash)was then in vogue, but what did I care? I used what I thought was right for us, and so should you.
Be an individual OP and your child will be too.0 -
When my DD was younger I got some glove clips from Gap that attached to the sleeves.
Similar to these:

Mine have gloves on ribbon, not elastic. That way they know where the gloves are. I'm considering doing it for my OH too, as he never knows where his are.
However, I do threaten them that if they don't tuck their school shirts in, I may have to sew an inch of pink barbie fabric to the bottom of my boys shirts0
