What do other parents do to keep gloves ??

I still do it with mine. My 6 year old has never been laughed at for it.....why would they?I have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife

As someone who works in a school, I can tell you it's not the done thing anymore...but it blimmin wwell should be! It's shocking how full the lost property bins are at the end of each week. I can't understand how parents can not push their children to look when jumpers, coats and even shoes (yes shoes!) end up in them.
As your son is only 4 I'm sure he won't be laughed at. I think he can safely have elastic until he finishes year 2 at least. And you'll score brownie points with the staff for being a "sensible parent" (assuming EVERYTHING he owns is also labelled:D)0 -
Personally i just go to primark and buy them in bulk, they sell 3 pairs in a pack for £2. I tend to grab a couple of packs as it starts getting colder (if they are ever in the sale and £1 i buy 3 or 4 packs) and just see how we go. My son is 5 and would be horrified if i tried to put elastic on his gloves. I remind him every day to tuck them in his pockets or pop them in his book bag. At this cost i don't mind if some go missing through the winter-tho they tend to turn up at random points during the summer term.hth.xx0

Poor you! Poor kid - please don't be tempted even if might seem the sensible solution.
Some things you have to swallow. I used to buy in bulk identical gloves from sports soccer - well padded to survive winter at its worst. The theory being as long as you had a right and a left there should be no problem. Worked most of the time but once did only have left hands left is see what I mean!0 -
I bought a a great thing for my step daughter a few weeks ago, I'll try to describe it... it's like a really long scarf folded into two and then stitched down one side for about 8 inches to make a pouch bit that serves as a hat (my mum used to do this to mine when I was little!) and then both the ends are folded back and sewn on both sides to make a pocket to put each hand into so hat, scarf and gloves are all one item IYSWIM?
The one I bought is a trendy one (from Camden market don'tcha know) and is made from cream fleece and has ears on it and two big buttons for eyes but it could just as easily be a knitted scarf.
Make £25 a day in April £0/£750 (March £584, February £602, January £883.66)
December £361.54, November £322.28, October £288.52, September £374.30, August £223.95, July £71.45, June £251.22, May£119.33, April £236.24, March £106.74, Feb £40.99, Jan £98.54) Total for 2017 - £2,495.100 -
Most of the children at my son's school have them attached....much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

You could always opt for something like this ... http://www.teamski.co.uk/product.php?sproductID=4&product=Tobby_Glove_retainer0

They look cool. At the age of 4 or 5 it would be okay to use elastic the old fashioned way but after that a no no, kids start getting self conscious, then you could use the ones above.
I buy 4 or 5 different pairs of gloves in sales and other cheap ones l find, that way there's always a pair to be found when we're in a rush, l put a pair in DS coat pockets and we all have a basket in a cupboard by the front door with hats, gloves, scarves to grab on the way out.
Anal, me? :rotfl:

I got my eldest DD in Matalan last year, really hope they do something similar for boys, wasnt a problem at nursery as we parents helped them but now DS is in P1 I know for sure we will lose gloves!0 -
Like Sare said previously, I also work in a school and people tend not to do this but I wish they would. You should do it and might start a trend within your school. It is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO much easier for the children. I don't think the children would ridicule your little one, they'd more likely be intrigued.0
