Tooth Whitening Products - which work/are best?

Evening All

I've recently been looking into getting some tooth-whitening products to use but there's a bewildering array of different stuff to try. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on which ones work best that they might be able to share.

Just to clarify I'm not really talking about normal toothpastes that are supposedly "whitening" but more about proper special whitening products like teeth polishes, gels etc etc

But then again . . . any help would be greatfully received thankyou

hi i have used one of these products for the first time recently and it seems to be working , it is called brilliant and it is in a small box with gel and activater and a gum shield thing in , it was a fiver or there abouts from superdrug but i also saw them in tesco, it makes your teeth whiter but not bright white , more natural clean white if you know what i mean

the best tooth whitening ive used was a gel i bought off a web site https://www.smile-brighter.co.uk it is the same gel my husband was given at the dentist for about £200 i did mine for about £15 it really works and the gel is sent out the same day as you order it there is plenty of information on the web site ive tried lots of different ones and this is definatly the best
i was sent a code to get money off just before xmas ill see if i can find it

No way does it make your teeth up to 14 times whiter.Whitening stuff can only go up to 4 times whiter.
I use some gel i got from ebay and some i got from my dentist,and it cant take your teeth 14 times whiter,only lazer can do that

This is exactly what I have been looking for! A wee thanks coming your way:) And my partner is going through this treatment right now and it is costing him £200 as we speak:eek: I have checked the syringes etc and it is the exact same thing! The difference in his teeth has been great:T

Depends on whether you want the gel with peroxide in (so basically bleaching your teeth and slightly thinning out the enamel) or trying the no-peroxide version which is safer but doesn't give as good results.

I went for a non-peroxide version (Safe & White from Boots). I had to wear a gumshield for 30 minutes twice a day! Needless to say I was dribbling like a baby by the end of easch session! Gave up after 4 days!

It really works. Took a while but repeated applications of about 30 mins really made a heck of a difference. If your teeth get sensitive, simply stop using it for a few days.

The heat moulding gum shields are a total pain to get right, but a good close fitting mould/tray is the crucial step. I would also trim them to the teeth/gum edge (so the gel doesn't sting your gums), but it's up to you.

There are some companies who will charge you a bit more to make a proper mould of your teeth, (they send you moulding compound and you send it back to them) from which they make a proper fitting tray (very thin and transparent, so comfortable to wear and practically invisible).

If I hadn't made my own proper trays, that's what I'd do now.

My teeth got a LOT whiter (my dentist had to use the lightest grade of composite to fix a chip recently), but yours may vary depending on the nature of the staining. I drink black tea/coffee and slurp red wine.

I'm not a dentist, so don't blame me if you end up gummy! :rotfl:

PS: Best notto put the gel where it will contact metal fillings, etc, and I suggest either doing your upper or lower set of gnashers first - that way you will be able to see any change more clearly. You might also want to order some spare trays in case you knacker them trying to get a good fit. Oh and you do another session every 6 months or so just to keep the whiteness "topped up".

PPS: I've just noticed that the previously mentioned "Smile-Brighter" outfit do the custom moulded trays - I would recommend that type of tray over the ones you heat yourself. The results will be much better, they will be infinitely more comfortable to wear and will be much less hassle. Edit: HERE's another outfit doing custom trays even cheaper. Looks like a good deal.

Surgery is only needed for the lazy and of course, people with serious dental issues.

- Brush in the morning, brush after your evening meal, brush before bed.
- Dont smoke.
- If you drink carbonated drinks like cola, do so but dont do it before bed. same goes for acidic drinks like orange.
