Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Thursday 20th October. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

    Morning all!

Stupid laptop hasn't been letting me post recently but today it seems to have decided to relent so I thought I'd take advantage of the unusual luck and pop in here.

Hope all are well and have a good Thursday!

I am knackered (as usual) and just really dragging myself through until half term. Can't wait for a break. My house is a disgrace but that will all change next week. I have about 15 shirts hanging from the handy chin-up bar in the doorway to one of the bedrooms waiting to be ironed....so that will be a girly film and ironing afternoon one day next week! Haven't cleaned in I don't know how long - with only two of us who work all day it doesn't get that bad - but even so, I am too ashamed for anyone to come round at the moment! Just one more wake-up now....

    Morning all,

Came down to a wet puddle from little dog this morning, 2nd day in a row, she has been told off and put in the garden for 5 mins, and so is feeling very sorry for herself, I wouldn't mind but she has her last walk at about 9 ish, and then is put in the garden just before bed, naughty little dog.

Cold here today will be another sharp frost, I can feel it, cant beleive a few weeks ago we had that hot spell.

Off to work for me, the heating has been put on so at least the office is warmer :T

scampi and chips with peas tonight, (it was bogof), have moved washing on airer into lounge a sthis seems to be the warmest room, having a bit of a struggle getting it dry atm.

Hugs to all in need, have good days all xx

Off to work soon, freezing here again, took ages to scrape the car this morning.
Double duty at work today, I shall need my thick coat & my gloves.
At least I'm sleeping better now it's cold, I always do.
I need to make cakes tonight, but it will probably be flapjacks as I'm feeling lazy & I'm trying to use my Remoska for everything & not turn the big oven on.
    Have a good day everybody.
    Hugs Hester

  • Morning all, before and after!

Yesterday was an odd day and today will be different again (and not very OS). William and Sam got into a fight yesterday with a Large Tom Cat and William has a hurt so I need to phone the vet when it opens and see if we can be fitted in. I'm also meant to be seeing my Consultant and having my hair cut but may have to re-arrange to accommodate William.

It's freezing here in Glasgow - I've not looked outside yet but I suspect there will be frost. I've got the heavy winter duvet on and a comforter and it was still chilly last night.

My car is a step nearer being driveable (it's been cleaned out and the jammed brakes unjammed so it's mobile). Need to get the inside cleaned and then it can go and get an MOT (I hope ...) In the meantime I'm quite happy walking.

Time to go in search of coffee ...

Kezlou - hope we don't have thick frost - I'm near Darlington so not far from you. Doesn't look quite so cold outside here!

Threw the boys into a shower this morning much to their disgust! But it got them up. Still have wet beds to deal with and the house to clean before the PTA come here tonight!

Need to lay a decent fire too! Going to have a look at a new (to me!) car this morning - and then it will be straight into the cleaning up. Making spanish chicken for tea and the PTA tonight - got some reduced price chicken and have everything else. Will make some fresh bread and get butter out of the freezer. Dogs playing merry hell!! Said to a friend that she could put her kids to bed in my bed whilst we have our meeting - that means that even my bedroom must be tidy - no where to hide all the junk!!!!

Hugs to those in need - Lou and all the teachers - not long til half term.
Me, OH, grown DS, (other DS left home) and Mum (coming up 80!). Considering foster parenting. Hints and tips on saving £ always well received. Xx

March 1st week £80 includes a new dog bed though £63 was food etc for the week.

    Morning,

Been awol for a few days, Monday I had my OGGT which in my mind should not be done to as many woman as it is, it's not a nice thing! Anyway with no surprise... I don;t have Diabetes (might be something to do with the diet I am on for Insulin Resistance is the same for controlling Diabetes... hey ho!) the midwife wasn't paying attention when she removed the needle, and my vein bled out under the skin and I had a biggest blood blister ever (not a bruise! A blood blister!)

Anyway, I am not feeling well the last few days... so I am just taking an easy day and spending it in bed until I do the afternoon school run.

Just on the phone to sky again... think i'm going to cancel my account because they just can't get anything right with my bills! this will be my 3rd complaint in less then a month!!! Took them 2 months to realise my internet problems were caused by a low wireless (which took 2 minutes to resolve! And that's the only thing i've not complained about!!)

Anyway, I hope everyone has a good day... don't get too cold x

Hope all is well, haven't been able to read the thread, just been working and trying to get some sleep! My back is giving me jyp at the moment, a sure sign I need to chill out and stop working so blxxxxy hard! Anyhow, not back in until tomorrow night so shall potter and do housework and loads of ironing.

Was lovely here yesterday sunny and cold love when it's like that makes me want to go down the beach. Love the beach out of summer, love the fact that the locals use it all the time, it's like we own it in the winter.

Am really pleased, have lost 12lbs with WW. Have 8lbs to loose until I get to target, usually I've given up by now. Had leek and potatoe soup and paninis last night, think tonight will be something with chicken.

Big hugs to all who need one today. Have a good day all.

Good Morning all a bit of a frost first thing but not too bad.I still managed to get by without putting the heating on just yet.I am looking across the River medway and the sun is just coming up and the sky has turned from dark blue to a sort of peachy smear on the horizon. Its a lovely colour and one that would be hard to replicate.
School run as per usual then home to have a bit of a pottering around day .,mostly feet up and catch-up t.v. I think as I have caught up with my ironing mountain.Just put the last of it away.I have some carrots in the fridge that I may turn into carrot and coriander soup to use them up.No urgent shopping required at the moment so I think I'll just save my pennies.Hope you all have a good day whatever you are doing.
    Cheers chums

    Morning!

Frost on the ground this morning! Pup is walked, and warming up his toes on the sofa. I'm just getting my hair done before work.

Dinner is going to be sausages, jackets and beans. I have a veg pot for lunch :) OH has packed lunch but he's not got much of an apetite at the moment

Need to sort out some bills today, change bedding and do some clothes washes. - Atleast they'll dry with the heating on!
