Ooo, hello Prudence! Welcome to the den of daftness (mainly caused by the others you know...)and watch out for jobbing's hook!
I think we've all been there on the work front (just tell me you aren't a paramedic, or a surgeon....or a chocolate maker for Galaxy!!).
Please do join in the fun and frolics (least of all 'cos takes quite a few of us to hold Miggy upright after she's been at the damson gin...;)).
Have a goodun'

I'm a receptionist/telephonist and the only one in the firm who is allowed to look at the internet in working hours to alleviate the boredom!
I've been knitting woollen strips for blankets for Mary's Meals - apparently for the homeless in Haiti. That has come to a halt and I have withdrawal symptoms. I found another charity to knit for yesterday, Knit a Square. They piece squares together into blankets for Aids orphans in Soweto. A worthy cause. One has to send the squares over there oneself which does incur postage charges, but that is part of the donation to the charity and I suppose it means the charity doesn't incur any extra shipping costs.

I have been knitting on the bus to work (50 minute journey), while watching TV at night (keeps me from nodding off during the prog) and sometimes in my lunch hour if the weather is too foul for me to go shopping (and therefore MSE!!).
Can't see your lovely pictures at work as blanked out, but what I managed to see on my iPod looked highly covetable!0 -
Hi Nora et al
Sorry not been around for a bit over busy at work (not really looking after myself) and have spent part of this week in hospital:(:(
Am home now but still under hospital care (nurses in daily) one good thing is that it means I have time to knit so have started baby cardigan for friends baby due in April:)
Thought I would come on here for some cheering up (and to share choccie) and to try to get myself on the straight and narrow with money saving and getting organised.
Not allowed out of the house so feel a bit like a caged animal and I have to say TV has never been soooooo boring.
You guys are great at keeping the laughter going and encouraging the knitter/crocheter (yep tried that recently lol) so many thanks
Hope everyone is ok and taking care in the snow (those that have it).
Will log on later after my lovely nurses have been

Hi 'verse!
I've been lurking generally, but haven't really been in the mood to post for a while - apologies for the silence (though if you knew me in real life, you'd probably consider yourselves quite blessed for the 'down time'! :rotfl:
So, first up let's catch up with you all....newroadahead wrote: »Sorry not been around for a bit over busy at work (not really looking after myself) and have spent part of this week in hospital:(:(
NRA it's so lovely to have you back among us (ooo, that makes it sound like you'd been abducted by aliens, doesn't it?!). Sorry to hear you've been so poorly  but really, really pleased you're being taken care of. You take it slow and easy - plenty of tlc, and not too much laughing *dons the boring hat*...prudencekitten wrote: »I'm a receptionist/telephonist and the only one in the firm who is allowed to look at the internet in working hours to alleviate the boredom!
It's so lovely that you knit for charity - and those poor hens! If you get bored with hens and squares, you might be interested in the angel bear campaign: http://www.angelbear.org.uk/index.html
And in general, a big hug for everyone. Please note that it's not a Valentine's hug...it's a birthday one - birthday counter anyone? No Jobbing - that one with the candle in is mine!! *stomps foot*
Not entirely sure where I thought I would be at 37 (not really one to give such things that level of consideration), but I'm fairly sure it wasn't camped out in my mother's spare room surrounded by boxes and clutter....(none of which is ebayable...pack that in you lot!).
*Picks up self by scruff of neck and shakes* right, well, none of that! Lots of stuff going on - Nora's Thoughts is well underway and still on for going live at the end of the month. Work have confirmed that my redundancy is going through - again, hopefully sorted by the end of the month, I'm celebrating with fab friends this evening (MSE-style at one of their houses with a home-cooked meal, and the promise/threat of "much silliness"....doesn't bode well for my dignity!:rotfl:). The PPI cheque from Tescos should arrive soon (after finally sorting out all the admin problems, and change of address etc), and I've just finished a lovely week up in Stafford with other friends (yes, I'm blessed/spoilt/overrun/nagged a lot).
...plus I have an open bag of counters by my knee...
Have a lovely day out there - not because it's Valentine's, or even your birthday...but because you're an MSE-er (however good or lapsed), and you'll therefore never be alone....even when you want to be!:rotfl:

wishing you a wonderful and happy birthday Nora. Hope you have a fab time with your friends. I find that it's never a good thing to start thinking about what you should have done by x age, i'm about to hit one of the biggies argh!! and i've certainly not done enough to justify that age.0
