    Well, depending on what you class as 'neutral brown' then my button heaven - textile garden - have just introduced these:

    Freebyfifty, have you thought about making your own buttons? chinese knots look really gorgeous, plait the yarn to make a thicker yarn, then make it into a chinese knot instructions here
