    I'm not telling :D
If loads of people all start visiting the place will be spoiled :D
Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the end

My "best" place visited ? Tortola in The British Virgin Islands.

Would I go back ? NO, definitely not.

When I was there (1984) it was a beautiful, quiet, unspoilt backwater - now it has 5,000 passenger cruise liners from Miami calling every day.

I would HATE to go back and see what it is like now - prefer to remember it as it was.................. heavenly !

Venice in the Spring or Seville for Semana Santa.
  • Hmm. Got to visit Rio De Janeiro once in your lifetime people argue. I was only there 4 days but it was a wonderful place, although the statue really is only a statue. Stroll along the beaches, watch a football match, see the notorious favelas for yourself. You could argue that you coluld wait and see Rio after the Maracanna is built.

Argentina for me is also a wonderful place.
Buenos Aires is a city most people love, and some wonderful cheap Buffets and steakhouses on offer. You can also hop over to Uruguay for a day or two on a short one hour ferry ride which is a lovely quiet country.
Iguassu Falls which people argue is one of the best waterfalls in the world is a must see.

Whilst staying on the South America theme, I loved Peru. Inca trail is a once in a lifetime experience, but not one for someone who is wanting a relaxing holiday.

The local people for me is a reason why I loved these places, and contrary to popular belief, the Argentinians are very friendly towards the English and I don't know anyones that bad mouthed Argentina.

I have been to Australia/ New Zealand, but the local people are so much better in the countries I've mentioned above.

I was hoping for a post like this :D

South America is really the only place I haven't travelled and I was looking for some ideas for the next trip. Currently I am toying with Central America and South America :p

Oh, I've just sent you a PM (before I even knew you replied to this). The PM was sent, as I never see much Pro South American views, and I feel people really should be made more aware of what great tourist attractions are on offer in in this vast continent.

Pompeypete.......I'm sure you are referring to the car being 'battered out' - not the poor taxi driver! :)

By the end of the trip me and the missus were pretty much battered out.
The car had no a/c, so we had to keep the windows open. Right-hand drive, and they also drive on the right!
Very few roads were asphalted, and most were just dusty and pot-holed.
We started each day with nice clean white faces, and within hours had been well tango'd, hair an'all.
    Great experience though:)

I'm with you on Maui - not to keen on Oahu though.

I have never been to Vietnam before, however, I will be going there for the first time in December.

Sometimes I think that a place you visit leaves memories of not what the place looks like or the people - but what you were doing and who you were with at the time.

A bit like music really - certainly in my case I have some naff songs on my ipod - but they certainly bring back happy times.

I agree. We visited Oahu after Maui this year, and it was exactly as I expected which was not that great - well Honolulu/Waikiki - some other parts are really nice. Im glad Ive been there but wont be going back again - unless purely to visit the North Shore as I would like to see surfing in the huge winter waves one year. But wouldnt bother with Waikiki again. Maui is like another world! The 'real' Hawaii. Have you been to Kauai? Thats a very scenic island, but requires more driving than Maui.

Whereabouts are you going in Vietnam? I wasnt expecting to like it as much as I did.

We had 2 weeks last Dec, we travelled from Hanoi down to Hoi Chi Minh, spending a couple of nights in various places. Hoi An was our favourite town.

And agree with the music thing too, actually some music reminds me of certain places Ive visited!
