Rude bus driver

Driving a bus is a job and you are going to get people who handle it differently from others.
And all of that is a complete mystery to you before you take on the job? Bus driving is no different to any other form of customer service in that regard.
If you don't like it, you should have tried harder at school.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

I'm not sure whats worse for a bus driver..... a bunch of elderly people moaning he is '4 minutes late' or a bus full of rowdy collage kids writing on & sticking chewing gum to seats.
Not a job for the faint hearted!

I got on a bus yesterday at the terminus - the driver was having a fag and I asked what time the bus would be leaving. He answered "When I've finished me f*cking fag you silly cow" I was gobsmacked!0

Wow, started this thread as a way of getting it off my chest. but I can't believe some of the stories other posters have talked about. True, it is fine to be irritated, annoyed, running late etc, but as a bus driver you are in a customer facing positions, representing your company and providing a service which is paid for. You simply can't be rude, no matter what the customer has done.
As a non-driver I catch the bus several times a week and just one or two drivers have struck me as particularly helpful friendly and kind. that is pretty poor in my opinion, from about 100 drivers I have had to deal with over the years.0 -

I am not a bus driver but I know people that are and what a stupid statement to make "should have tried harder at school". That might be relevant in a job market where there are plenty of jobs to go around but when you hear about people with plenty of experience, qualification, ability and willing to get up and do a hard days work having to take pay cuts from £80000 to £20000 a year just to find a job, your ability and experience and however hard you tried at school is not going to make sod all difference.

I would say a bus driver actually has it harder than many other forms of customer service jobs. The reason I say that is because if you work in retail or telephone support you are in an environment with other people in similar situations to you can vent your frustrations and pick each other up. Driving a bus I imagine can be quite lonely and very isolating, when you get annoyed with customers being rude ect it will just build up.0 -
try seeing it from a bus drivers point of view
day in, day out. Miserable people who cannot be bothered to say please or thank you.
People who get on the 1st bus of the day and then seriously expect you to have change of £10 or £20- like where is there a bank open at 5am???
People who moan for moanings sake
Smelly people
Dirty people
thats just an example. As if that wasnt bad enough, they then have to deal with other road users as well!
BUT
There are some nice people out there. They are just outnumbered by the rude and horrible ones :-(I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the Health & Beauty, Greenfingered Moneysaving and How Much Have You Saved boards. Some are saying that it is the bus driver who has been arrested.0 -

Or people who have to run to the bus that is already running late because they too are late and they do not even have the correct change ready.
It is the OP that is the cause of the problem here not the driver, he was only 5 minutes late - you were six.0
