Rude bus driver

I regret not taking it up with the police.
You were running in the road?0 -
okay - the bus was four minutes late yet you had to run for it. and it took you a minute to fish out the correct change.
hun, the driver was late and you were making him later! perhaps he had four people who were fishing around for the correct money at the previous stops!
wouldnt you be peeved?
shrug it off - he was just having a bad day prob.0 -

Yes, as I'm perfectly entitled to do...
Absolutely. Nothing like some target practice.0 -
What else do you expect from a Bus Driver, their not the most intelligent bunch are they?
You'd think as the paying public they would be reminded of not resorting to bad manners to boarders but to be honest, the managerial staff are just like the drivers...all uneducated!0 -
The last time I got a bus, the driver told me off for not knowing the fare before I got on and therefore not having the correct change ready.
I was only using the bus to get home as I'd left my car at the garage, and I'd absolutely no idea how much the fare was or how you are supposed to find out before you get on the bus?!Here I go again on my own....0 -
To balance things out, when I was in uni and didn't have much money or people to talk to, I had a lovely bus driver who would let me ride for free whenever he was the one on shift, and would talk to me on his break or when it was quiet and no one was around to complain
It's been years and I don't think I'll forget him anytime soon.
Then I've also had bus drivers who waited until my partner (who had a broken leg and was on crutches at the time) got to the door before closing them and pulling off, or who didn't give enough time to let them get off the bus either. It's a very mixed bag.
I was too late getting to the door when I had a broken leg. The driver didn't do it deliberately. When he reached the end of the route, he was due for a break but he went back and dropped me at my door. :T
There was another time when I'd missed the last bus on the route I normally took. I asked the driver of one of the other buses whether there was any chance of me catching his bus and meeting the other one on its way back. He said not to worry, it was his last run and he'd drop me off on the way back to the depot. I talked to him on the way and it turned out he was an old school London Transport driver who'd also driven Greyhound buses in the US.0 -
Its really a mixed bag. I live in the Derby city and the bus drivers can either be bloody awful to complete diamonds.
Last week I was on one of their buses going into Derby when an old lady wanted to get off, the bus driver stopped the bus, got out of his seat, helped her down the steps and then got her shopping trolley off the bus and ensured she was ok. This happened even though the bus was full of people. I was right at the back and could see the actions yet two people who was right in front of the old lady didn't even budge.
I then clapped my hands loudly and praised the bus driver for his efforts and said shame on the people at the front for just sitting/standing there.
So you can complain about bus drivers, however its not just bus drivers, its passengers with no respect or manners as well. I also notice whilst sitting at the back how many people was littering the bus with the free Metro newspapers. Is that respectful? No.
If people don't show respect, then they wont get it back full stop.0 -
Just a little thing but really got me annoyed.
Had to run for the bus today and got to the doors just as the person in front of be had boarded. Of course, because I had been running i hadn't had the chance to get my money ready. I would estimate that it took me about 1 minute to get my purse out and fish about for the right change.
I was smiley and chatting to the bus driver and apologising for being such a slowcoach.
then he turns round and said "I was supposed to be around the corner by now you know..."
I was taken aback and immediately apologised. Wish i hadn't as my extra one minute was not responsible for him running five minutes late. he had clearly lost time elsewhere on the route and decided to take it out on me.
things like that can really spoil your day.
I really don't see what's rude about that. The driver is making a point yes, but being rude no.
As others have said, in all probability your not the first passenger on that journey to have done the same thing, resulting in the bus being late and you being lucky enough to have caught it - look on that as a bonus rather than getting upset.0 -

A lot of times, when the driver waits for somebody the oassenger doesn't even say thanks! Is that really any incentive for drivers to be nice?0
