Rude bus driver

Just a little thing but really got me annoyed.

Had to run for the bus today and got to the doors just as the person in front of be had boarded. Of course, because I had been running i hadn't had the chance to get my money ready. I would estimate that it took me about 1 minute to get my purse out and fish about for the right change.

I was smiley and chatting to the bus driver and apologising for being such a slowcoach.

then he turns round and said "I was supposed to be around the corner by now you know..."

I was taken aback and immediately apologised. Wish i hadn't as my extra one minute was not responsible for him running five minutes late. he had clearly lost time elsewhere on the route and decided to take it out on me.

things like that can really spoil your day.

  • If you drove a bus for a living youd be miserable and rude.

Can understand why he made you annoyed. Here in London the buses can run late but should never run early. Sounds like he was a grumpy devil and took it out on you.

This is why I love the zutons:

"The bus turned up and you wouldn't believe
    The driver had an attitude
Well he gave my pass a check and he gave me no respect
And it's got me in a terrible mood

He's oblivious to all the pain that he's caused
And the pain that he's about to make
Well I hope the next person could be the wrong person
And wipe that stupid look off his face"
  • I always remember one day when my mum came home with a huge grin on her face because she'd got on the bus and the bus driver just remarked, "Wow you look good!" - it made her day. I do believe bus drivers can really affect a person's mood.

    Problem is, I always drive.
i before e, except when you run a feisty heist on a weird beige foreign neighbour

My last run in with a bus driver is when I was out running and the driver tried to hit me with his bus. I lept in to a hedge and flipped him the bird. He stopped the bus, got out and yelled "this is a road, not a f***ing running track you tw*t". The bus company assured me that "internal procedures" would be followed. I regret not taking it up with the police.
  • Of course if, at every stop, the last one to get on the bus delayed him by a minute there would soon be people complaining to him about him being late.

lots of people get on the bus, moan about waiting for X amount of minutes and then spend ages faffing about to get their fare/pass. Its people like that who make buses late!!

OP- on your ticket there will be a driver number- you could contact the bus company and complain

Dont let it ruin your day. Someone else had probably already ruined his

  • I had a bus driver swear at me the other day and belittle me infront of other passengers, i was mortified! All because i didnt have the correct fare (needed 10p change) and he said there are 'bloody signs all over the bus about having the correct fare. I will bloody well leave you there next time!' i asked him to show me where the signs were and sure enough there were none! I did have to laugh to myself on the train yesterday, the conductor said it was nice to have a gorgeous young lady on the train for once, i dont think he realised that my boyfriend is actually his boss....! Still made my day though :)

To balance things out, when I was in uni and didn't have much money or people to talk to, I had a lovely bus driver who would let me ride for free whenever he was the one on shift, and would talk to me on his break or when it was quiet and no one was around to complain :) It's been years and I don't think I'll forget him anytime soon.

Then I've also had bus drivers who waited until my partner (who had a broken leg and was on crutches at the time) got to the door before closing them and pulling off, or who didn't give enough time to let them get off the bus either. It's a very mixed bag.
