    Afternoon all

Uolypool - it's a good job this lad and his mum have good friends around them at the moment, the dad sounds a right nasty piece of work. Makes you worry about what they've already been putting up with, as others have said hopefully she will find some inner strength to make a better life for herself and her son. Hope things start to fall into place for them soon x

Had no rain here today but it's really chilly, sun has shone most of the day.

Had to admit defeat and put the heating on, keeping a really close eye on temperature, if it's not that cold then I'm going to turn heating off.

Keep safe and well everyone, hugs to those that need them x

  • Afternoon all,

I've had a busy day today...
Took mum for a hospital appt, she had to have an xray due to a lump in her throat. It's nothing serious but as she suffers with reflux problems anyway it's a bit of an issue for her.

Popped into to town AGAIN, I need to stop all this spending :o

On the bright side tho, recieved the final statement of my cc today and they now owe me £28 :j
This is a huge deal for me, that's now all cc paid off in full and my bank loan was paid off in full 2 months ago :j:j
Only have car loan now on finance which only has 6 months left :j
Is it just me or does anyone else actually do a little dance when a debt has been paid in full??? :rotfl:

In other news, I'm back to work tomorrow, my foot still isn't 100% but tbh I'm getting quite bored not working now. The doc says I should stay home and gave me a new sick note but I refused it :D Is that normal??? I'm also scared to take to long off incase I lose my job, I cannot afford for that to happen!!!

So no OS really today just pottering about with mum

Burgers, chips and beans for tea, I'm starving so I'm off to do that now and will read through the thread in a bit.

    Hope everyone is ok xxx

Afternoon. Hope everyone is having a good day.

uolypool it's lovely to hear that there are nice people in the world when all we keep hearing about is the breakdown of society. Hope this guy gets locked away.

I am seriously going to hurt tomorrow. We just climbed North Berwick Law. It's not that high, but its fairly steep, and stupidly I was wearing my MBT shoes. Ouch. Even the dog was faster than me and he's the slowest thing on four legs in the village. Ah well. I feel I have earned my treat dinner out tonight. I am on a strict diet - lost 1stone, 2 to go, but tonight I am going to indulge and have. Wait for it.

PASTA.:j:j Actually I'm more interested in the marinara sauce, but I'll have spaghetti with it as they don't do rissotto which is my absolute favorite.

Then back on the diet tomorrow.:(

Dog also exhausted and snoring on the floor.

    Justlost a huge post:mad::mad:

    Breif version -

Uolypool - fair play to you :A I wish I had a friend like you to turn to when I was married, took me best part of 10 years to 'escape' a horrible marriage

RR - I took the plunge and bought an electric airer from L@akeland last night - have to wait a bloomin month for new stock to come in though  must be very popular, will use it to dry stuff over night (not switched on) and use it heated when I really need it - in theory it should pay for itself in a year compared to the TD

Sausage and mash for dinner :D.
HM monster soup for lunches - I have enough to last a year due to my quantity error on monday :rotfl::rotfl:

Have a fab evening all - I may have to relent and put the heating on in a bit :( xx
Note to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Hi Everyone, thought I had better pop in and show my face.

Come on all you oldies, let us know how you all are

Well I haven't been posting I know, but I have been reading, I just think you do not need to hear me going on about lazing about in the sun, while your are freezing your !!!!! off. I am still cooking from scratch when we are not going out, and not going OOT when we do go out. Last night we went out with our Norwegian neighbours, we all had a meal, drinks all night, with live music and dancing, and the total bill came to 65€ between 4! Just over 3 weeks left now. Invited round to a neighbours tonight. Have made a trifle to take with us, did wonder if the 30% UHT cream you get here would whip up but it has.

Looking at the forecast for the winter, think we will be back here early Jan until March. Saves on heating bills and washing drying. It will not be mega hot, and the nights will be cool, but at least we will see some blue skies, and have sun if we get in a sheltered spot.

Uolypool - No-one would stop me seeing my son. Dislike bullies like that.

Christmas - yes I dare mention it, is not a problem, as we have so few too buy for, 1 Great-Niece and 3 Great Nephews, DS & GF are sorted with cash towards dining table and chairs, and just something to open on the day. It is the turn of GF's Mum to have them this year, we are down in London with them the weekend before, to see the Nutcracker with them, which was my birthday pressie. I got a load of books from The Book Shop (or something like that) which will be given to the 4 LO's for Xmas, Birthdays and over the year, and I often get them an outfit to help their M&D's budgets. Smellies for my elderly next door neighbours, liquid refreshment brought from here for the neighbour who looks after the house while we are here and I am done. Boring really, even the eats as there is only us 2 will be fairly usual as I don't want to hinder the weight loss I am trying at the moment.

Can anyone help me my 9YO Great Niece, who has a special place in my heart, is struggling with Maths, especially Times Tables. She is really bright, and her reading, and literacy work is well above here age. Part of the problem is confidence. I am the maths "nut" of the family, and want to help her, does anyone teach this age group and can give me some pointers. I am thinking of collecting her from school one day a week, having tea with us, and then doing some times table reciting, as she does have a good memory, and then playing some games which involve numbers, to help boost her confidence. She is actually changing schools at half term due to some bullying and name calling as she has ginger hair. Hoping the new school will help her maths.

There are so many with problems at the moment, so will not list but send everyone positive vibes, Hi-5's ((hugs)) and Spoons.

    Take care all. DG

I have bought her a flip book, and she is looking at it, I just feel that no-one has yet stressed that only the old boring repetition of them is the way to learn them. I have just found a web site, and sent it to her Dad. Her parents are not Maths confident totally, though they are sound enough, but both struggled at school, and feel she may be like them. I feel that catching her earlier will help. If I thought some private lessons would help, I would pay for some, but at the moment, I feel it is something I can do with no problem, and one she gets confidence in the lower ones, then she will be OK.
