Still chuckling over the crotcheted gimp mask..........:rotfl:

Dont you mean crocheted???????????????? I now have an image which I can't get rid of and it's not pretty:rotfl::rotfl:

Jo- I know it's a bit gruesome but the only real way to stop your little rodent visitors coming back is to kill them. An old fashioned hardware store will have the traditional mouse traps and a piece of toffee (preferably Thornton's chocolate coated) attracts them. There is no danger of them managing to nab the toffee as their teeth tend to get stuck. Sounds a bit sadisitic I guess but very effective.

It's either that or get a furry friend from the local shelter. :)

Its an attendance issue unfortunately..although a postman with cataracts is not a great idea!
He had one absence last year while he had two ops for them then one absence at xmas for laser surgery as they'd left bits behind..then this one he was off for 10 days and he was genuinely ill.
In the 20 odd years we've been married somethings only put him in bed twice and this was one of those :(

Sorry to hear that. It still sounds really unfair
  • Here at Puddleglum Mansion we are wondering if our two amazing, ratters will qualify us for a rebate on the Council Tax. Just need to install custom control on the cat flap though. Red channel if you are trying to bring a rat in and green if not. There must be some way, short of locking them out.
Was nice out earlier but rained and came over gloomy just as the washing was ready to go out. Now pondering using the tumble drier.

:D:o LMAO, not only can I not DO crow-shay, it seems I cannot even spell it.........:rotfl:or was that a freudian slip?;)

After the council re-did part of my Nan's bungalow, she had a mouse problem for the first time ever. They were getting into the pantry and eating the darndest of things; curry powder, cooking chocolate (they chewed thru a heavy-duty plastic tub to get that and thru cellophane to get at the curry powder).

Anyway, she got out the trad mousetrap The Little Nipper and baited it with cheese and no mousely action at all. I considered a critter with such a palette needed a more exotic bait and I can report that they have a fatal affection for Elizabeth Shaw mint crisp chocolates.

Well, walked up the precinct mid-morning and met a zombie coming the opposite way (as you do). He was wearing a loin-cloth and a lot of body paint and nowt else; not sure if he was up early or coming back from a reeeeely wild Friday night.............

Mr T has pumpkins going at 75p at the moment if anyone needs to know. And I went to the lottie after visiting a friend as the day got out for a couple of hours of warm sun. I have now retrieved all the milk bottle watering points from the soil, washed them and saved them for next season.

Mrs Chip, many thanks for the cooking tip!

All rightly, shortly to be disconnected from the interweb for 10 hours, so will catch up tomorrow. Drink up and eat up!;)

Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker I've been Money Tipped!
    Afternoon all.

Jo - I'm glad to hear you're starting to get settled in now. It's a shame your home's so nice the mice want to share it with you, though. :( My mog used to be a pretty good mouser and rid a previous flat of its rodent inhabitants for me, although I quickly learnt to stay out of the way while he was eating his daily catch. _pale_

PIC - poor you - what a dreadful bit of timing. :(

I've had a pretty low spend day today, albeit not intentionally: I went out to buy dried cranberries and a new pair of work shoes (not from the same place, obviously) and found that the health food shop had a special offer on dried cranberries which meant they'd sold out, and the shoe shop I had a nice voucher for had decided everyone should be wearing boots instead, which wasn't what I wanted.

I did manage to get my two freebies from Waitr0se, though - a roll of Xmas wrapping paper and a pack of jelly sweets which my GM will like as part of her present. :money:

I'm off to make some feta filo parcels in a minute (using up the feta I got BOGOF a few weeks ago), so I apologise in advance for all the bad language - I don't like working with filo pastry, and it certainly doesn't like working with me! :o
Back after a very long break!

I must be really boring, I only use chilli powder for my chilli!
Watched a brill programme earlier with Clarissa D-W on garlic. I went to investigate my own garlic plait and the cloves have vanished inside the bulbs :( I will ask my sister to get me some from the food show when she goes and see if I am able to grow some more for next year. My elephant bulbs were tiny!

kaz -if nothing else, do try adding cumin and coriander powder - it makes a a chilli so much more interesting! I like to play with the basics and add bits of whatever I have in the cupboard - the aim is to get something that is not just hot, but layers of flavours. and cook it early - chilli is always better the next day
