I don't feel good this morning :( Nope, not overindulgence! but I think it's the labrynthitis rearing its head again. If I'm honest, could do without spending the day out shopping with my sister, but I promised two weeks ago. Ergh. So dreading going back to work on Monday, need more sleep :( *daisie very grumbly this morning!!*

  • Hello this is my first foray into this version of the thread, I've been away for a while as RL got in the way generally.

My head hurts but not from alcohol - I'm trying to decide what new washing machine to buy - when did it get so complicated! Can't decide how big a machine I need, how fast spin speed, buy cheap and except it might not last, buy more expensive but they don't seem to last anyway

...and to top it all, on a perfect drying day when I've go the day off, my Dad decided it was the perfect day for a bonfire!

    :hello:

    Hi all!

Hope your all well! What have i missed??

Well - I am on the opposite side of the border... and have finally managed to switch my laptop on today!! It seems to have died in the move and didnt want to come back to life. I could access FB through my iphone, so not all was lost, but its hard to use this site on a tiny screen.... and man how I have missed it! :D

So far, the beds and chests of drawers are built, but the wardrobe is still in bits and there is lots still unpacked... Im drowning in boxes and its driving me mad! :rotfl:

I have found the slowcooker though and cleaned and switched on the freezers, so they are filling gradually with whoopsies and leftovers :D Lidl is our closest supermarket and I drove past a few farm shops on my way to enrolling at college the other day, so I think I know where I will be shopping for the most part. Im going into the city today so am going to do a trip to the butchers I know, and bring home some more goodies :D

Im not sure Im taking too kindly to living in the country though.... I get no mobile phone coverage for about a mile!!! I feel like I have moved back to the stone age!!! :( My car and shoes are permanently manky but I think I just need to resign myself to the fact that neither will ever be clean again...

Another problem I have discovered is that there are mice!!

The fields next door were burned recently driving all the mice out, and of course they are now just everywhere! We need to wait on someone coming in to show us how they are getting in. Everything looks secure - no gaps anywhere! But every morning, there is evidence of mousy visitors... Any tips and suggestions would be gratfully received.

When i got here the oil tank was running on fumes so its cost me £338 for 500litres (0.676p per litre) which was the minimum first delivery!! I dont know if thats good or bad compared to what some of the rest of you pay, but it was the cheapest i could find. I just could have done without the huge spend as soon as I got here...

LO has started school, and after initially getting bullied on his first day :( seems to be settling in ok and is being left alone by the bully, and has enjoyed the rest of the week.

Ive enrolled at college, but am still not sure if I will receive any funding, so it looks like I may have to pay for it myself, but Im just going to look at it as an investment and make use of my 0% credit card.

Ive got a part time job in the most beautiful christmas fair type shop which is right over the road from my house - I love it! :D So at least that gives me some pennies coming in right away and I have two interviews lined up with the hospital for two different positions so fingers crossed something comes from those!!

And to top it off, Im 9 weeks behind with my studies and the first assessments are in 3 weeks so what I need to be doing is cramming like mad....

    So best get on!!! :rotfl:

Oooohhhh - the have breadmakers in lidl for £35 - can anyone recommend it?

    TIA

Hope you have a great day folks

Hugs and tea all round x

xx_Jo_xx you missed a couple of wild parties, but apart from that, not much. Thought you had a ginger friend to introduce - could he/she not help you with the mice?

We have got mice today as well - the pub next door is being refurbished and they have decamped (don't think they like Radio 1 much).

I've got a cat indoors (one of mine got poisoned last week so keeping her in) so I figure rather than let her do what comes naturally (torturing the poor things) I would lay and bait traps. Now bear in mind I'm a country lass and "humane" in my book means killing quickly - so baited with Mar Bars and already caught six.

Its them or my store cupboard ............... and I would rather feed the kids this winter than thousands of mice.

They can get in holes the size of the end of a pencil BTW - they can literally squeeze down their bones so although you think you are secure, one little space and its a Mouse Party.

But the good news is - generally if you have Mice you don't have Rats!

  • Glad you all had fun at the party.

Jo I hope you settle in really soon

I missed the jumble this morning as I have had raging toothache all night:( rang the NHS number who rang back but I missed the call as my mobile is on its last legs and decides when it would like to ring. Finally after several phone calls I got an emergency appointment and have been given antibiotics and have to go back to have my tooth pulled out. £17 for the dentist and £7.40 for pills so not a very money saving morning.

On an embarrassing note, due to my bad back I got stuck in the dentist chair and thought I would have to send hubby for my quilt and pillow :rotfl:

So now I can't drink and I am having my Halloween party tonight. It is my favourite party of the year and we have spent weeks getting ready :(

On the plus side I could do with losing a little weight and as I can't eat I should drop a tad plus now we have started making our own wine we have been drinking more than usual so that will slow me down :D

Mummy mogs has lost her collar and when we nipped into Mr Ts for some last minute party bits they had some collars on offer for 64p so we bought the lot. We have four cats so this should save us a bit in the long run.

Off to shove my head in a pillow........failing that a brick wall
