    Morning All!
Happy Birthday Littlecal ! Hope you are feeling better soon, Kidcat, what a cheek that school has! Sorry to hear about your horrible news DD&D, hope all goes well.

All quite quiet here without OH who is gadding about in the big city. He is back tomorrow, with a car full of 'stuff'. Going to send him out this morning to stock up on things from local ethnic shops - 5kg onions for 99p cannot be missed!

Had an unplanned visit to our local shopping venue yesterday, courtesy of our lovely neighbours. It was Farmer's market day and picked up three lovely big brown crab for £10 (were £4.50 each, but he had not sold many) so spent a happy couple of hours up to my picking them. I will freeze the shells to make crab bisque, very cheap and delicious. I have had a few crab recently, and have quite a few shells already frozen, I must get organised and make the soup, as they are bunging up the freezer!

I also got 2kg of beetroot, I must remember to ask OH to bring the pressure cooker back with him. I love beetroot, and it is very good for you. OH hates it, can't understand why!

Looks like we are going to have a go of the yellow ball today, so going to have to tape the lovely James on Saturday Kitchen and get out into the fresh air.

Have a good day whatever you are doing!

    Hi all

there is a thread here that talks about other companies similiar to approved foods.
  • Kidcat and DD&D...lots of good wishes flying your way from Worcestershire. Hope everything goes well for you.
Littlecal: Happy Birthday! Aaaah...fifty. I remember it well (I don't actually, it was 20 years ago and I was probably lost in an alcoholic daze all day, with a bit of luck).
Sat here with a hot chocolate (well it's cold out there) and planning a trip into town to buy Dearly Beloved a watch for his birthday. I'll probably come back with two cabbages and a cauli instead, the market's on today. Hope to get to the library and must remember to take a razor to shave all the whiskers off the books. Our library doesn't seem to buy books until they've been out in paperback for a year. Bloody cutbacks!
I did a spell of voluntary social work in a deprived area of Birmingham in the 70s. Most of the dads were in Winson Green nick, those that weren't were hanging around street corners smoking. The minority that were in work looked weighed down with the cares of the world BUT their kids were always clothed appropriately, even if they were rags or hand-me-downs. My boys were five and seven then, there clothes went missing on a regular basis....iyswim. Then I was told by the senior social worker to stop donating clothes or the parents would become dependent!
I left shortly afterwards, but often wonder what became of those children...probably bankers now!
    Normal people worry me.

Approved foods were offering free delivery through the email they were sending peeps but I didn't check it, as it is usually spend £40 and get free delivery. And I may not want everything there and my bill would be less than £40.
