I really enjoy watching the OH washing upThink big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

I would carry a dishwasher home on my back rather than wash up by hand. My hands react to excessive exposure to cleaning materials and to rubber gloves. So for my own comfort they are an essential. Ds1 gets pocket money for doing the washing up that won't go in the dishwaster.0

What do you mean "things that won't go in the dishwasher"?
There's no such thing in my house - everything goes in even vases and the odd ornament. My SIL was horrified I put baked on dishes and pots in but I told her that's the point of a dishwasher - even if they need 2 or 3 trips round they will be in there until they are clean!
Hubby has a stainless steel flask which quite clearly states "not dishwasher proof" and we know from the previous one that eventually they rust inside so my response was to buy two - that way I have a replacement for when it's done. Not very MSE I know but I'll make up for it in other ways. It's all about getting the balance right for you:D0 -

For that brief period of time that we had a dishwasher I found that it didn't clean very well and it frosted some of our glasses. Not all the glasses, but we had some blue tinted ones that have never recovered from the frosting.
As much as I hate washing up by hand, I much prefer it to using a dishwasher.0 -

I am another one who could not live without a dishwasher, its like a cupboard that you hide all your dirty dishes in and they come out clean. I put my oven shelves in there as well they come out sparkling.
I worked with a lady who used to cook a salmon in hers!! wrapped up in foil and without the detergent of course!!0 -
Bananas in this house have three stages...Hers, His and Cake! LOL!

:rotfl:
I only buy bananas when they're yellow stickered. DS1 loves them, I like them but leave them in case DS1 wants them, so we end up with some that have been left by both of us in case the other wants one!
And now, I have no room in the freezer and a few nanas already in there!0 -
No dishwasher here - used to have one years ago but didn't replace it when it conked out. I cooked, OH washed up - now he's XOH I do it all but as there's just me it's not so bad. I don't cook every evening - I batch cook and some nights it's only reheating home made frozen ready meals so there's not a lot of washing up really.
Christmas will be very quiet here this year - XOH may come round for dinner if he doesn't go to mum/relatives (we get on better now we're apart - funny that) but otherwise it will be me, pup and puss. For years I did the big family get together thing, including doing stuff I really didn't want to and being told off for not joining in the fun. I always bought gifts for each person and got "this is from the family" gifts in return - so that's what I did last year. My grown up, working, nieces complained to their mum - she gave them a bit of an earfull bless her and asked when they last sent me a present :rotfl:She and my brother were perfectly happy with what I sent so I'll be doing that again.
Alone or not I will do a nice dinner, put my feet up and enjoy some of my free reward-for-changing-fuel-supplier case of wine. But I won't be saying Bah Humbug and I hope all who do push the boat out more than I do have a lovely time"Life is not about waiting for the storm to pass...it's about learning how to dance in the rain." ~ Vivian Greene0 -
D&DD - MrT's has Cheerios on half price at the moment, I usually buy the cheaper alternatives for DD, but have treated her to a box of the real McCoy this time. HTH0
