It wears off - the quite enjoying it bit. Mine died in the summer and we were without for about a month. Started off quite enjoying it but soon got really sick of washing up after every meal instead of bunging it in dishie. I haven't moaned about unloading it since we got it back.:D
I agree - when our DW died just before on 20.12.10 I was determined we would have another in before Chistmas Day - and we dont have a big Christmas - with snow up to the window sills and not a gritter in sight we dug out the car in desperation on 23rd December and drove to nearest town to get one - such is our hatered of washing by hand! Sad I knowBe the change you want to see -with apologies to Gandhi

Our house is rented, and it's come with a dishwasher. I've hardly ever used it because I found that most of the time I have to re-wash at least half of the things by hand. I enjoy washing up though - it's usually just me in the kitchen with the radio on (usually The Archers!). In fact I enjoy washing up so much that when I was cutting up the fruit for the infant classes as school this morning I struggled to find clean plates (the cleaners just rinse them) that I ended up washing all the plates they have - there must be at least 30!0

Rosies on the mend now thanks GigerV

I've set my Dad a mission to find me the cheapest cheerios about..I haven't had to buy any for about a year and nearly keeled over at the price of them  He loves to hunt out bargain buys so it'll keep him busy for a while and I'll probably end up with another years worth :rotfl:
I don't have room for a dishwasher so have trained my sons well instead!
I've been using Amazon groceries here and there for stocking up as they often have silly price stuff just need to find a cheap deal on vegemite now and I'll be a happy girl0 -
Hello everyone, mind if I join in? I used to post on the 'it's tough' thread but left after it all got a bit heated, and haven't posted in, oooooooooh, about 8 months or so. Anyway, I've been lurking on here for a few days and it seems safe to come in - and I recognise quite a few names (hello greyqueen), so thought I'd better de-lurk and say hi :-)
JoDebts at their highest: £37,500

there is a 30p off coupon for cheerios on printable coupon thread, think it expires at the end of this month, but can only be used in major supermarkets, lidl, aldi don't accept them.0 -

I would do exactly the same :T
We don't buy the tablets though we get the dishwasher powder as you can cut down on the amount you use as we do with wash (laundry powder) We don't buy the dishwasher cleaners either I just put it through a hot wash with some white vinegar in it.
Made my first ever Lemon Meringue Pie today and everyone loved it :T:T DH said he could not tell the difference between home made and a shop bought one, I thought made from scratch should taste betterwell at least they all liked it. I also made an orange cake which is ok but a little boring.
Had a tub of whoopsie quorn mince and a bag of mushrooms (10p each) so made a spag bol. So the whole tea for tonight including pud was less than £2 for five of us:D the left over LMP has gone to Aunty C as she keeps asking if I have used the kenwood yet
Off to clear the mess up now and worship in front of the dishwasher

thanks for the replies re d/washer vs hand washing. heaven forbid that hand washing would turn out cheaper if the novelty is going to wear off fairly soon then :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:.
I'll just enjoy it while I can and not even try to work out the costings.
Blimey it's cold here. I've lit the wood stove but absolutely refuse to put the heating on just yet. I'm blowed if I'll heat the whole house just for me.
I might put it on a bit later when DH is home as I fancy a hot bath this evening and wouldn't like to stand shivering whilst I try to dry myself. Perish the thought (perish - geddit?:D)

i wash up by hand (but i don't mind as it's only me here) and i prefer it to a dishwasher - plus i use the old wash up water to flush my loo
re xmas - being on my tod, it's not a big deal for me - just another day really - i quite like the peace and quiet though, the stress free dinner and the luxury of being able to do (or not) exactly as i please :rotfl:saving money by growing my own - much of which gets drunk
made loads last year :beer:0 -
At the risk of sounding terribly tech-phobic, I've never even used a dishwasher.
My sink is by the window, but it looks out on to a plain brick wall so it's not exactly an exciting view!
I've just made a banana cake for the charity sale tomorrow: it's a variation on a recipe I've used loads of times before so, unlike the cheese biscuits, I know it's going to work OK. It's pretty OS, too, as it's used up four rather manky over-ripe bananas which would otherwise have ended up in the bin. (Of course my colleagues don't need to know that bit.)
Back after a very long break!0 -
I used to have a dishwasher but we moved to this place and I now wash up by hand. I enjoy it [mostly!] and someone else dries if they are around so its quite sociable.0
